Castlemalloch is a very comfortable and tastefully decorated self-catering cottage near Harrietfield with panoramic views over the surrounding Perthshire countryside. Perthshire is an excellent area for walking (from gentle strolls to bagging munroes) and wildlife spotting - there are still red squirrels nearby and great bird watching.

There is a diverse range of sporting activities available in the area (golfing, fishing, off road driving, white water rafting, horse riding, swimming, ice skating). Perthshire has some interesting gardens to visit and fabulous castles and historic sites in the area (Scone Palace, Blair Castle, Stirling Castle, Glamis Castle). Children will love a visit to Beatrix Potter's Garden at Birnam and the Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre where they can feed animals too.

For those who enjoy the attractions of the city, Perth (just 7 miles away) has much to offer with a theatre, new concert hall, cinema, museum and art gallery. It also has great shopping and some excellent restaurants and cafes. This is a great base from which to explore all of Perthshire - Crieff, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy are within 30 mins drive. Edinburgh is just over an hour away by car (or take the train from Perth right into the city centre) - Scotland's capital city is well worth a day trip. There is such a wealth of outdoor and indoor attractions and activities that you are sure to want to return the following year!

Accommodation:

On the ground floor is a delightful fitted country kitchen with a Raeburn cooker and dining area; a twin bedroom; and a bathroom with modern claw-foot tub. Upstairs the large sitting-room has a wood burning stove, a baby grand piano and wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Also on the first floor is the master bedroom with a king size brass bed and antique furniture, a modern shower room, and a double bedroom with views of the garden. Double patio doors lead from the upstairs accommodation to a breakfasting terrace - a wonderful place to eat, drink or relax.

The cottage is fully double glazed with a small glass porch with seating to front of the property and a larger porch to side which catches the early morning sun. There is a pretty and well-stocked garden with various flower beds, two lawns and a variety of seating areas, so you can enjoy the sun and the gorgeous views whatever the time of day.

Directions to the cottage:-


Take the A85 out of Perth (towards Crieff). Just before the town of Methven, take the right turn signposted for Glenalmond and Harrietfield. Do not turn left for Glenalmond, but continue on the road until a T junction is reached. Castlemalloch is the property which can be seen from this junction.

What's included in the rental:


Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. Also logs for the wood-burning stove. There is a welcome tray.

Availability.
Guests are asked to arrive after 4pm, and leave by 10am - changeover day is Saturday. Short breaks are welcome. There are discounts for parties of less than four.
