Moray is a haven for wildlife - a keen eye can often spot dolphins, seals, otters, whales and maybe a falcon throughout the year. Other visitors include ospreys, geese and many other migratory birds. There are literally miles and miles of beautiful coastline to explore with numerous caves and ruins of castles providing homes for a wide range of wildlife. Inland there are quaint villages, castles, nature reserves, woodland walks, rivers, lochs, rolling hills, mountains and magnificent scenery with the Cairngorm and Lecht mountain ranges within easy reach.
Walking and cycling are very popular in the area and there are well signposted routes for all ages. Both for the younger and the more experienced off road cyclists there are monster trails set up in the woods locally which can really give you the thrill of your life. Fishing, shooting, off-road driving, quad biking, golfing, boat trips and water sports, horse riding, climbing, flying, skiing and snow boarding, tours, museums and the famous whisky trail with its distilleries are all within the area and many activities can be pre arranged if required. For those that prefer staying within the villages and towns there are numerous shops, visitor centres, Baxters of Speyside, Walkers Shortbread, Johnstons Woollen Mills, swimming pools, fitness centre, skating rink, ten pin bowling and go karts. There are lovely restaurants and pubs (some with live music) either in or within easy reach of Buckie.

Coastal self-catering accommodation for 2/4:
This lovely self-catering house near Buckie has full gas central heating and double glazing. On a natural stone wall is a log burning stove set in the fireplace for those cold wintry nights. The first floor has oak laminate flooring; the ground floor has beautiful Caithness slab flooring. The kitchenette is equipped with everything you would want during your stay - beautiful belfast style sink, integrated fridge, electric oven, gas hob and plenty of work space.
Rannawa has a traditional vaulted ceiling with exposed ties and beams and imaginative glass blocks in the hallway and kitchen areas. The garden and patio areas are enclosed by walls and railings.
On the ground floor is an entrance hallway, the bedroom can be made up as a super king bed or two singles (luxurious bathrobes are included for you to enjoy!)- it has antique pine furniture and a shower room with quadrant shower cubicle, basin and WC. On the open plan first floor is the sitting room, dining and kitchen area. The sofa very quickly and easily converts to a double bed.
From the sitting room window seat you can sit and look out towards the sea.
The nearest electric car charge point is 1.5 miles from Rannawa Cottage at Tesco in Buckie. If guests bring their plug for connections to 24v with them there is an extension lead in Rannawa Cottage which can be plugged in via plug in cottage!
Directions to Portessie by Buckie:
Portessie is situated 19 miles east of Elgin. Turn off the main A96 road at the roundabout in Fochabers onto the A98 following this road for 7 miles then turn left onto the A990 to Portgordon.
Once in Portgordon follow the coast road with the sea on your left hand side, heading east and on to Buckie where you will come to a T junction where you turn left, follow the road past Buckie Harbour and on towards Findochty for two miles. With the sea still on your left hand side, Rannas Place is a small lane to your right where you will find Rannawa Cottage.
