The setting of this gorgeous self catering accommodation offers the perfect balance between being close to the buzz of Edinburgh yet having the advantage of a peaceful rural setting amidst rolling farmland. East Lothian is renowned for its pretty beaches and villages and being a golfer's dream. Guests at Gateside can also have a tour of Fa'side Castle and meet the horses, hens and sheep.

Edinburgh boasts a wide variety of museums, historic houses, art galleries, concert halls; it is essentially an Arts city full of culture. The Edinburgh International Festival is the finest festival of music, art and drama in the world and is a major attraction during the summer when an impressive Military Tattoo is also held in the evenings at Edinburgh Castle. In addition to the official Festival, there is the Festival Fringe which caters for the avant-garde with hundreds of university and college groups performing new works. Jazz, film, book and folk festivals are usually held through the summer when the city definitely takes on a festive air.

In and around Edinburgh there are many excellent golf courses within easy reach of Fa'side. Muirfield is about 8 miles away; the Musselburgh Links (9 holes), which Fa'side overlooks, was used for some of the very earliest championships.

Fa'side is well situated for access to the Border Country in the south, across the Forth Road Bridge north to Perth and Inverness, and westwards to Glasgow, Stirling and the West Highlands. Close by are the lovely sandy beaches at Gullane, North Berwick and Dunbar, while inland the countryside is rich in agriculture.
