This warm and inviting holiday cottage in spectacular Glenshiel is in an amazing location and is ideal for a walking holiday or for exploring the highlands of Scotland. Costing only £75 per person, per week off season through to £105 per person per week peak season, Woodlands is cheaper even than youth hostels. Despite its low tariff, it is a lovely cottage which is both spacious and comfortable.
Glenshiel has 21 Munros so is a perfect base for walkers and climbers - the Five Sisters of Kintail and Saddle are accessed directly from the house. Other mountain ranges reachable from Woodlands are The Cuillin Hills, Ben Nevis range, Glen Affric, Glenelg and Knoydart. In addition Glencoe and Torridon are about two hours away. For the less energetic there is a myriad of mid and low level walks - ramble through forests and isolated glens, wander alongside tumbling burns and inland lochs or explore the miles of coastline the North West is famous for.
Being on the A87, the cottage is well-placed for exploring much of the highlands and islands. The peace and tranquility of this part of Scotland is unsurpassed. You can visit Applecross, cruise along Loch Ness, explore the glorious beaches at Glenelg and Plockton or go over the sea to Skye. Other nearby attractions include Eilean Donan Castle (perhaps the most photographed of all Scottish castles), the cascading waters of the Falls of Glomach, the Iron Age Brochs of Glenelg and, of course, the abundance of wildlife the area has to offer. Golden eagles, pine martens, seals, porpoises, otters, wild goats and red deer have all been spotted in the vicinity. There was even a whale in nearby Loch Duich once! Take a seal trip, sail in a glass bottomed boat, go boating, pony trekking, mackerel fishing or just relax in the house and enjoy the mountainous views.
Finally, the cottage is perfect for two-family holidays or large family get-togethers. It is spacious, warm, comfortable and very popular with children.
