What a few of our guest have said:
"We had been planning this trip for 4 years now. Several households, 11 people including two small children under five. And Springvale was absolute perfection. James was a perfect host who let us postpone our trip when covid cancelled it last year and gave us all the information we needed once we arrived to the charming town of Cardross. The house had so much space, everyone had their own spaces, there was a large dining room where we shared meals, and the gardens were perfect for the kids to run around in all day. 10 minute walk to the train station. Cute pub right down the street. Could not have done asked for a better spot.
Perfect house for celebration with the whole family - lots of space in a lovely, historic house. Warm and welcoming kitchen, comfortable lounge and a dining room fit for a king. We loved it, and the local pub is only a few minutes’walk for good food and a pint. Highly recommended.
The house was very comfortable and in excellent condition. We loved sitting out in the garden and relaxing in the conservatory. As golfers, it was very close to lots of lovely courses, we played 4 of them.
Our stay was for a week , 7 of us over three generations ranging from 10 to 77. Springvale is a stunning property and very spacious. We loved how it was decorated and the family pictures added a lovely touch. The house was very clean and had all the facilities you would need.
The garden was amazing and although the weather was mostly wet, it was a great space for Cooper our puppy. All enclosed with lovely trees. A small walk to the river Clyde for the Doggo was also a great plus for us.
Springvale is so close to all the local sites and loch Lomond. Literally a 10ish minute drive to Balloch.
Lots of great places to eat nearby, The Cardross Inn and Cattle&Creel , La Barca in Helensburgh would be our recommendations. Also in Balloch, The Pier and Cucina.
All the local Scottish people we met were so friendly and helpful.
We were a family of five adults that flew in for a wedding on Loch Lomond. We all agreed the property was perfect for us. James was helpful with any concerns I had prior to arrival. We had one issue with the showers and it was corrected within hours. Since we flew in we did not have a car but it was really easy to get around. We called multiple taxis and never had a long wait. The train really is close and it proved to be a delightful walk along the Clyde to the station. We also had dinner a few times at the Cardross Inn, also within walking distance. Overall, my family decided that for our needs it couldn’t have been more perfect.
There were twelve of us on this trip, ranging in age from 12 to 80! We found the house big enough with room to spare. Everything we needed was there. Although our holiday was a New Year celebration, we were never cold. We also enjoyed all the various attractions in the area, and the younger ones amongst us enjoyed spending time on the estuary!
With a large conservatory and garden, this would be a super place to stay in the summer months."
Note: There is also an owner’s self contained cottage with its own main door and small garden (the old stables) linked to the main house. The owner uses the cottage infrequently and it is never used as a holiday let. You are invited to view the renovated 170+ year old domestic ice cave which was used by the first owners of Springvale to store ice for use in the kitchen pantry which is situated in the owner’s garden.
