My friends and I were fortunate to spend a week at Dounnie House in mid September. Communication with Za was faultless and directions exact. The road in was part of the adventure and although a little rough, overgrown and sometimes wet in places, our cars coped perfectly well.

The home itself is clearly loved, it is not your average Airbnb but something plucked from the pages of ‘Homes and Gardens’ and situated in the most bucolic of settings on the stunning Argyle coastline with magical, ever changing views across to Jura from the kitchen and patio.

Dounnie was the perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate after our cycling tour of the Outer Hebrides. The beds were sumptuous, bathrooms stunning, living rooms comfortable and inviting, with books, board games, and wood burning stoves for cozy nights indoors. The wifi was perfectly adequate for our simple needs but anyone hoping to work remotely would be challenged.
Outside there is a world of exploring to do, close in and further afield and the woodlands nearby supplied us with a bounty of blackberries and chanterelle and the rocky shoreline offers good fishing for Mackerel and Pollock. The kitchen was ideal for indulging in some home baked goods and local delights.

If a rural idyllic is your cup of tea, look no further, it does not get any better than this.
