Testimonials
….New Brachkashie is simply the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed at. The cottage is beautifully set on the banks of Loch Knockie and has large grounds which the kids loved to explore….

….This is our fourth stay at Brachkashie and we love it! We had a short visit this time because of school holidays didn’t allow for a week. It wasn’t long enough! The cottage is beautiful, the location is stunning and it is a real escape from busy city lives, It is the perfect place to unwind and get away from everything!

……We spent the most wonderful 3 nights at Brachkashie. The property is set on Loch Knockie which offers the most spectacular views from all the rooms of the house. The cottage has been styled beautifully and carries very luxurious touches - gorgeous beddings/blankets, log burner, books/maps, toiletries. There are some lovely walks straight from the cottage, and it is also ideally located for Inverness and Fort Augustus. We loved every moment and would definitely look to return, perhaps in the warmer months of the year!

……New Brachkashie really is a little bit of heaven! Secluded on a beautiful loch surrounded by trees with no one else around, we had the most amazing time seeing all the different birds and deer and even an Otter swam up to us on our private jetty! The cottage is fully equipped for a home away from home and Catherine has done a fantastic job decorating and furnishing. The drive to the cottage has incredible views for miles and is really easy to find. Our favourite memory is just sitting on the jetty with a cuppa and gazing at the stars. We really loved Fort Augustus, it has lots of lovely gift shops and The Lovat Hotel does incredible food. We also recommend a boat ride round Loch Ness. Thank you Catherine for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cottage.

This is our fourth stay at Brachkashie and we love it. We had a short visit this time because school holidays didn’t allow for a week. It wasn’t long enough! The cottage is beautiful, the location is stunning and it is a real escape from busy city lives. It is a perfect place to unwind and get away from everything. Fort Augustus is only a twenty minute drive away and we like to cycle along the canal from there. You can do amazing walks from the cottage and what we really enjoyed this year, was sailing in the little topper. Take wet suits! Its always a joy to wake up and enjoy a Nespresso coffee too - Catherine hasn’t forgotten anything! Very comfortable beds too with wonderful linen and cosy blankets. It also has a wonderful wood burning stove so you are never cold - that with the underfloor heating. We have two teenagers and after the first couple of hours of arriving and they are wondering what they will do without their gadgets (ipads etc) they then get into it and love the freedom that the cottage allows you to have. One thing I would definitely recommend is - go and try the White Bridge Hotel - it is great. Its a five minutes drive down the road. (2.5 miles) It has a cosy bar and serves great home made cooking (I recommend their curries). We would all thoroughly recommend a stay at Brachkashie.

New Brachkashie is simply the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed at. The house is beautifully set on the banks of Loch Knockie and has large grounds which the kids loved to explore, with small dens to hide away in and let their imaginations run wild. The property has been interior designed to a very high standard and puts you in the Highland frame of mind immediately you walk through the door. We were blessed with amazing weather for October but using the wood burner at the end of the day was a joy. We were out on the rowing boat each day of our stay which the kids loved, it was so peaceful as we were the only people out on the water each time, just listening to the water lap against the boat whilst Dad huffed and puffed! There is an island which we plan to set foot on next time we are there. If you are thinking of booking this then please do, you will not be disappointed. Catherine’s communication before the stay and after was excellent and we were made to feel welcome and appreciated. We will be booking again as soon as we can.

Wonderful!

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage. My 3 and 6 year old had great fun making dens and exploring. My partner loved the private loch and fished every night while I enjoyed the surroundings and wood burning stove. We frequented Fort Augustus which has a fantastic butchers, the kids loved the canal boats. We also thoroughly enjoyed a boat trip on Loch Ness, a visit to Urquhart Castle and an open top bus tour of Inverness. We also went Pony trekking. So much to do in gorgeous accommodation within beautiful grounds. In fact we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked for next Summer. Thank you Catherine.

Perfect, simply perfect

This part of the country has always been a favourite with us and we noticed New Brachkashie when out one day. This was a few years back and it took a bit of time to find the owners and agree our first rental. I am glad we persevered as we are now planning our fourth visit, and booking is now a lot simpler. We have had great times enjoying the peace and tranquility, the fishing and the scenery of the area. The cottage is beautifully presented to the very highest standard and the location is simply stunning. Whether we are sitting on the deck taking in the view or enjoying the warmth from the stove in the sitting room in the company of friends, this place has a magic of its own that keeps us coming back. Each visit is as memorable and enjoyable as the last.

Wonderful relaxing week

We have recently returned from a fantastic week at New Brachkashie. The cottage is extremely welcoming, very well equipped throughout and decorated to a high standard. The views out over Loch Knockie are absolutely stunning and we saw a wide variety of wildlife including a Pine Marten and Osprey. As the sun shone all week we spent many hours on the Loch in the boats provided and were even successful at fishing. We also ventured out most days to the surrounding areas which are equally as beautiful. We had a fantastic holiday at New Brachkashie and will definitely return one day. Many thanks to Catherine, George and Family for letting us stay at your beautiful cottage.

We have really enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The cottage is very nicely decorated, offers a very high standard in terms of equipment, cleanliness and style. During the day we enjoyed the direct lake access with private rowing boat and the plenty of hiking options, in the evenings we enjoyed the cooking facilities and the cosy living room with the charming fireplace, during the night we enjoyed the comfortable beds and mattresses. I highly recommend this cottage for any nature lover or someone searching for a luxury retreat. We really felt like at a friends house :-)

We stayed at New Brackashie for three nights towards the end of a week-long holiday. The property is absolutely beautiful, clean and comfortable and with a well-equiped kitchen. The location is absolutely stunning, on the banks of Loch Knockie and a short drive from both Inverness and Fort Augustus. We had a fantastic few days, and we’re sad to leave when the time came. Although we live in Australia currently, we often visit family in the UK, and I am sure that we will return to this beautiful place. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing home with us!

We have just returned having spent the most idyllic 4 days on Lock Knockie. The cottage is finished to a high standard. Its clean, excellently designed with beautiful features inside and out. I have already recommended this cottage to a few of my Welsh friends. We are already looking at dates to return next Autumn. Thank you so much. Exited to come back to experience another 4 days of bliss and luxury. The best 4 holiday we have ever had.

A cosy, stylish cottage in a breathtaking location

On arrival the cottage looks traditional and unassuming, but on walking through the door you are welcomed by a newly renovated and contemporary, yet cosy interior. The furnishings are comfortable and stylish and the kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary appliances for modern living and cooking. The most memorable part of our holiday was found beyond the cottage, which is stunningly situated on the edge of its own private loch. The trips out in the boats onto the water were the highlight of our stay. I think you could visit at any time of year and enjoy this special location.

What a very special place....tremendous views over loch at the end of your garden!

With a feeling of remoteness & yet easily accessible, this beautifully furnished bijou house sits perfectly overlooking the loch at the end of the garden. Great layout with all the mod cons - beds are sumptuous with amazing pillows, bags of hot water & seasoned wood to feed the hugely efficient wood burner, what more could you want?! Walks and bicycle trails on the doorstep & nature everywhere - make sure you bring your binoculars! The Visitors book read like something from the United Nations so visit now before it becomes too popular!

Enjoyable one week stay - will be returning

Absolutely superb holiday home in the highlands. Really great setup with underfloor heating, lovely styling and log burner amongst everything else you’d need for a great week away. Fantastic locals walks and brilliant drives. Plockton and back road to Inverness both super trips. Sun was lit so we were very lucky. Lovely owners too with great communications before and during the stay. Colour photo is the view from kitchen!
Excellent and stunning. A little piece of heaven on earth.

We stayed at New Brachkashie cottage in Whitebridge for a weeks holiday recently. Where to start... The cottage is a work of art, absolutely beautiful with great attention to detail, cosy, warm and very inviting. We wanted for nothing. Sumptuous beds, best nights sleep ever! We loved it! A view of Loch Knockie to die for! An emotional experience, literally a little piece of heaven on earth. We enjoyed a visit to Inverness and Fort Augustas, where we had a wonderful trip on Loch Ness and watch the canal boats on the Caledonian canal, an amazing piece of engineering. We visited Whitebridge pub for a couple of drinks and to shoot a few games of pool, very friendly place. Got some fabulous pictures of a load of deer grazing in the grounds of a house on the hill and did a fair bit of rambling! Ah but being at New Brachkashie was the icing on the cake, we rowed on the loch and visited a few of its islands, did a spot of fishing and took the canoe out. The feeling of sitting in a boat on Loch Knockie at dusk is not something you feel every day.... even when it rained it was just beautiful there. I could go on forever, we didn’t want to leave, so Excellent and Stunning, a little piece of heaven on earth just about sums up our holiday at New Brachkashie. Thank you so very much Catherine and George for our wonderful holiday in the Scottish Highlands. Janette, Iain and Anna

Heaven on earth....exceeded expectations

Our recent stay at New Brachkashie was fabulous. Everything about the cottage and location was perfect, we really couldn’t ask for anything more. The correspondence with Catherine prior to our stay was prompt and prior to arrival we received detailed instructions for everything that we needed when we arrived. The moment we walked through the door we felt at home, the log burning stove was already prepared with kindling and paper (even in August we made use out of it during the evening). The views to the loch were amazing and having the use of the boats made the holiday more enjoyable. The beds were extremely comfortable and there is absolutely no light pollution or noise....so you can completely escape and switch off. There was little or no mobile signal (with O2) but this didn’t spoil our holiday. There is also no TV service which again suited us fine......there is a selection of DVD’s and we were notified of this in the documentation prior to the stay so were prepared and took some boxsets/films. There is also a great selection of board games so we spent some nights playing Scrabble which I hadn’t done for years, so it was nice to go back to basics and remember life before technology and countless TV channels! There is a Bose speaker which has an iPhone dock. There is wifi but this is limited or you pay extra if you go over the allowance.....but again this is made clear in the documentation prior to the stay. The cottage had a good amount of cleaning products, toilet roll, hand wash/shower gel as well as a few coffee pods for the Nespresso machine. The kitchen was well equipped with good sized fridge/freezer, oven/hob, kettle and toaster but no microwave. I would definitely recommend the cottage and will definitely be staying again in the future. It’s ideal for a complete getaway, having no TV, limited mobile signal and limited wifi is definitely a positive and a way to have a complete break from technology. Spending nights listening to classical music, playing Scrabble and keeping the wood burner alight was extremely relaxing. In terms of the location there are some amazing walks close by, just a 5 minute drive away is beautiful spot where you can take in the views of the local area, look down onto Loch Knockie (where the cottage is based) and also be lucky enough to spot the local deer roaming the hills. Fort Augustus is approx. 15-20 minute drive and Inverness is approx. 30-40 minute drive. The Falls of Foyers is a lovely walk, also Dores Inn has a lovely Loch side/woodland walk which takes you to the fabulous fairytale castle (Aldourie Castle).....so many lovely places to visit. I could go on about how lovely the weeks stay was......but as you can see by all the other 5* reviews I don’t think I need to.
