A traditional highland stone cottage, originally a gatehouse for what is now the Castle of Mey, the lodge is situated on its own in a truly rural setting, a mile from the castle entrance, completely enclosed by a drystone wall, surrounded by its own garden of trees, shrubs, lawns and flower beds, with views to Sutherland and Orkney. Migrant birds are regular visitors at certain times of year, joining the usual residents, all noisily proclaiming their territories overhead, and deer and other local wildlife pass through the garden as they go about their lives. East Lodge is perfectly located to enable advantage to be taken of the many attractions Caithness has to offer.

Highland cows, birdlife and deer are all around you. Take the boat out onto the loch and try your luck with a rod - alternatively fish the river
below the house. The location is particularly safe for children since the road is private and has little if no cars on it.
The West Coast makes a wonderful day trip, and well worth the effort for the beautiful beaches and stunning scenery of Loch Torridon.

tours with the RSPB and Ranger Service. Fishing, wildlife watching and bird watching are all on the doorstep, and if your interest is archaeology,
there are a number of sites within easy reach of the cottage.
