Haven Cottage Kirtomy, nr Bettyhill, Sutherland

Sutherland is an area of outstanding rugged beauty and ideal place to stay if you want to rent a remote Scottish holiday cottage. This northernmost part of Scotland has remained largely undiscovered and is totally unspoilt, but is definitely a must if peace and tranquillity and not much in the way of traffic is what you are looking for. With a fantastic coastline, clear sea and beaches ideal for children and adults alike, Sutherland is truly a great place to rent a Scottish holiday cottage. It would suit cyclists, walkers, climbers and bird-watchers, but also tourists who like to visit areas steeped in ancient history, including clearance villages.

Accommodation:
The cottage is on one level and is spacious and airy throughout. The double bedroom has a fitted wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with shower over and has amazing views of the coast and the sea. The comfortable sitting room is the perfect place to relax after a busy day and boasts a multi-fuel stove which provides heating for all the radiators and hot water. A large patio door leads from this room onto decking overlooking the cliffs and sea. There is a sofa bed and single futon in the sitting room, and extra folding beds are available if required for children.

The kitchen is well fitted with washing machine, cooker, microwave and all the crockery, pans and utensils you could possibly wish for on your relaxing self-catering holiday in Sutherland. There is a door leading out into the enclosed and private back garden, where you will find garden furniture and a barbeque. From here there are great views across the glen and the coastline. You can even fish off the rocks in the harbour 300 yards away!

This lovely holiday cottage in Sutherland is one of three on a track that nestles below the hill behind, in a coastal community of about 20 cottages near the village of Kirtomy.

What's included:
Prices include heating and electricity and all bed linen, including towels. Three baskets of logs are provided free of charge, then there is a small charge for extra fuel which is stored on site. There is a honesty box for telephone calls.

Rental cost and availability.
The cottage is rented out year round. Changeover day is Saturday.
Rental periods are generally a week - although short breaks are available off season.
