Inverness, the very heartbeat of the Highlands, is the ideal place from which to visit any of the many attractions this wonderful area has to offer. If golf is your passion you will be spoilt for choice with several courses within a short drive from lovely nine hole courses to the most challenging links. Castle Stuart Links Course (home of the Barclays Scottish Open) is less than 15 minutes drive away, Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Tain are also special courses but there are many others where you can have an enjoyable day out.

The area is one of outstanding natural beauty - the apartment is only 20 mins drive from the mystical Loch Ness and 30 mins will take you into the Cairngorm National Park where you can cycle, walk, ski, ride on the funicular railway or maybe try a new watersport.

Culloden Battlefield (site of the last battle fought on British soil) is five mins drive away and Cawdor Castle with its wonderful gardens and the seaside town of Nairn are about 20 mins drive on quiet roads. No visit to the Highlands would be complete without a visit to one (or more) of the many whisky distilleries you will find on the Speyside Whisky Trail. Further afield, but within your grasp, you can visit the Isle of Skye, the wild and rugged west coast or even John o' Groats.

Inverness too is a lovely town with the River Ness running through the centre where you can often see local anglers landing a salmon. There are pretty walks through the Ness Islands with its Victorian iron footbridges. The covered Victorian Market is an interesting visit and you will also find plenty of restaurants, from fast food to fine dining as well as several pubs, some traditional and several with music.

Accommodation: The Mews Apartment is set within the extensive grounds of Daviot Lodge. This bijou first floor apartment has been furnished to a very high standard and is the perfect place for a couple who enjoy the countryside but like to be within striking distance of the town - the best of both worlds. The layout is open plan with a good sized kitchen/living area. There is a bedroom with king sized bed dressed with exquisite linen. The shower room is next door with Italian tiled floor and modern fittings. Outside there is a decked area with garden furniture - the perfect spot to savour a glass of wine at the end of the day. Directions: Coming north on A9 you will find Daviot approx 5 miles before Inverness. Use Daviot Church, which will be on your left, as your landmark. When passing the kirk indicate you are moving into the right hand lane, getting ready to turn right on to the B851 signposted to Croy. Daviot Lodge is one mile down on the left. From the north come south from Inverness on the A9 (signs will say Perth) for approx five miles. Take B851 on the left. Daviot Lodge is one mile on left. What's included: Heating and electricity are included in the price. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided. Cost and availability: The apartment is rented out throughout the year. Change over day is Saturday, depart by 10.30am and arrive after 4pm. Short breaks are available during the low season - mid October to end of March.
