Just 25 miles from Inverness airport heading north across the Moray Firth, the Black Isle and the Cromarty Firth the Lodge House is surrounded by stunning highland scenery including Ben Wyvis a vast and sprawling munro. The owners have thought of everything to make renting their large cottage a fabulous holiday experience.

Westlodge Cottage is very popular for holiday lets, within easy reach for day trips are links golf courses at Nairn and Tain and the world famous Glenmorangie distillery. Brora Beach and Dunrobin Castle, the largest castle in the Northern Highlands which overlooks the Dornoch Firth are also within easy reach.

Evanton is a small village in Easter Ross in the Highland Council of Scotland, it lies between two rivers, the Sgitheach and the Allt Graad. Popular for walkers, cyclists, golfers and wildlife spotters, Evanton is 4 miles to the south-west of Alness and 6 miles north-east of Dingwall. The current town was founded in the early 19th century by Alexander Fraser of Inchcoulter/Balconie who named it after his son Evan but the core of the town dates from Victorian times.

The village has a local shop where you can stock up with essentials, a post office, a hotel (The Novar Arms) and an ATM. The Novar Arms Hotel is centrally located in the village, the restaurant, lounge bar and family room serve lunches and dinners seven days a week. There is always a specials board and on Sunday there is a carvery. The bar has a large selection of whiskies and also a special gin menu. It also has a pool table, dart board and juke box.

There are several tourist attractions to visit in Evanton and the surrounding area. The Fyrish Monument, the Black Rock Gorge and the ruined church of Kiltearn near the river Sgitheach as it flows into the Cromarty Firth to name but a few. The Fyrish Monument was built in 1782 and stands on top of Fyrish Hill. It was commissioned by Sir Hector Munro, a high ranking soldier who had served in India, in order to provide employment for local people affected by the Highland Clearances and is believed to commemorate Munro’s seizure of Nagapattinam in India. The Black Rock Gorge was the location of 10 days of filming for the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and was used as the setting for the scene where Harry is chased by a dragon.

Westlodge Cottage is the former lodge house of Swordale Castle, and is approached through a gated drive. Sitting in a well landscaped, beautiful garden with stunning views it is the perfect place from which to visit a whole host of Scottish tourist attractions.

On the ground floor there is a sitting room with an open log fire and a conservatory with a wood burner. The warm, large kitchen is well equipped with a range cooker with two ovens and an extensive range of cooking equipment. The dining area has seating for ten plus a highchair. The conservatory is another place to sit on comfortable sofas and relax. Through the conservatory and on the patio is a pizza oven - great entertainment for an in-house holiday gourmet experience!

Upstairs there are 4 large, comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a superking bed and a cot. Bedroom 2 has a kingsize bed and bedrooms 3 and 4 have twin beds. Both bathrooms are spacious and have modern appliances - one with a roll top bath, another with a walk in shower.

From Inverness follow signs to Fort William, Ullapool and Wick. Westlodge Cottage is just over 2 miles away from Evanton village, its location is rural without being too remote.
