With a wealth of beautiful scenery this area of the Northern Highlands is also rich in wildlife, including deer, golden eagles, black and red grouse, pine martens and red kites. It is a wonderful area for the outdoors sportsman, climber and walker alike. Plenty of both salmon and trout fishing, some of the country's finest shooting as well as top class roe and hill red deer stalking is available and can be arranged on surrounding estates. Grouse, duck and pheasant shooting is also on offer on local estates. There are a dozen golf courses within easy reach including Royal Dornoch, as well as farm parks and seal viewing trips available. In the winter the ski area of the Cairngorms is accessible at Aviemore just a short drive to the south.
Coul House is ideally situated in the beautiful Glen of Strathconon. It has easy access to all the sites of the Highlands, whilst at the same time being secluded and tranquil. The house itself has undergone a full refurbishment to bring the accommodation up to the most modern standards; with marble bathrooms including roll top baths and showers, brand new wooden kitchen with range cooker, American fridge freezer, and all the mod cons, finished off with walnut work surfaces and upstands. The house has been designed with outdoor pursuits in mind so there are all the amenities for drying out and relaxing after a hard day on the Hill - drying room with separate boot room, large comfortable sofas round a large log fireplace and a sizable drinks cabinet for stocking all the local malts. You will be extremely comfortable in this large Scottish house!

Totally refurbished, Coul House is a traditional granite period house of over 3500 sq ft, with quality furnishings throughout and very good sized rooms. Each bedroom has a choice of either a six foot double bed or three foot twin beds. All the bathrooms feature roll top baths and showers, marble tiling to walls and floors, and there is a 300 litre pressurized hot water system so no shortage there!
There is over an acre and a half of garden, with large parking gravel area and lawn. A boot room and separate drying room are provided. The kitchen has walnut work surfaces and stone floors, the latest range cooker and a huge American fridge freezer. The sitting room has a big picture window looking out into the mountains in the south, and plenty of sofas for relaxing round the large log fireplace.
Self catering or catered stays are available and child care and housekeeping services can be arranged as required. Sporting requirements can also be accommodated.
Take the A9 road north to Inverness, and keep on going over the Kessock Bridge on to the Black Isle. When you reach the first (Tore) roundabout, go half left onto the A835 towards Dingwall. After a few more miles you will reach the next roundabout, go half left on to the A835 Ullapool. Go up the long hill and start down the other side and you will see a left hand turn signed to Marybank. Follow the road over the Moy bridge, single track, and on to Marybank. After a mile you will come to sharp left hand bend in the road with a mini roundabout on it - turn right round the roundabout to Scatwell and Strathconon. Go for 2 miles, past the Tor Achilty dam. After a further 3 miles through the woods you will come to the village sign of Scatwell on a right hand bend. Coul House is the second house on the left with the large area of gravel in front of it.
Logs for the fire and all energy costs are included in the rental price. Linen and towels are provided as are cots, cot sheets and high chairs.
Cost and availability:
This large holiday house is rented out year round. Change over day is Sunday with check in at 4pm and check out 10am. Weekends and short breaks are welcome and discounts are available for longer lets.
