This is a beautiful holiday cottage for 8, situated in the heart of
delightful Pittenweem, a hotspot for arts, crafts and antiques. There
are award-winning sandy beaches, world-class golf courses, water sports
galore and many other holiday activities in the Fife area. For the
gastronomes amongst you, there are several excellent restaurants and
lots of family-friendly pubs to visit nearby. Superbly renovated, the
cottage provides comfortable accommodation on two floors. Visitors have
access to an enclosed garden area.
Travel to Pittenweem and you seem to travel back to a time of
unspoilt beauty and calm. The quaint colourful cottages with red
pantile roofs and wonderful sea views over the Firth of Forth
reflect an unspoilt quality of life. This part of
the Fife Coastal Path enables walkers to enjoy wildlife, villages,
castles, churches and harbours. You may wish to make a boat trip to the
Isle of May to view the breeding seabirds and the colony of grey seals.
Or perhaps you would like to make use of the Millenium Cycle Way with
its network of dedicated cycle routes. You will not need reminding that
this area is a golfer's paradise with world-famous courses available at
St Andrews, Kingsbarns, Crail and Elie. For families, visit St Andrews'
Aquarium and Castle, or the Scottish Deer Centre at Cupar where there
are falconry displays and wolves in addition to the deer! Pittenweem
playground includes a challenging skateboarding park, and a little
further away, Craigtoun Country Park offers train and boat rides,
adventure playgrounds, trampolines and bouncy castles.
The Pittenweem Arts Festival at the beginning of August is a must for
art lovers, but if you time it right, hopefully you will be here for
some of the other special events and festivals, such as the Ceres
Highland Games, the RAF Show at Leuchars, or the Leven Vintage Car
Rally. Kellie Castle and Garden, two miles north of Pittenweem,
features a fascinating Victorian Nursery and old kitchen, and a
beautifully cultivated walled garden and children's adventure trail. An
exceptional museum giving an insight into the Scottish fishing industry
is based in Anstruther, and you may also like to explore the old fishing
village of Crail with its Museum and Heritage Centre.
Visits across the Tay Bridge to RRS Discovery, the Life Science Centre
or the Verdant Works are also recommended. As is a day trip to
Edinburgh to visit the Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Dynamic
Earth and Royal Britannia, for example.
