Noddsdale is a very special place to stay in Ayrshire. It is a family run estate with a B listed country house. The East Wing is a spacious self-contained first floor flat, ideal for two, which was converted from farm buildings in the 1920s, to form a guest wing. It has evolved over the years and now makes a delightful and unique holiday cottage away from it all. The sitting room is most unusual with a pitched wooden ceiling and there is a tennis court in the garden. The Bell Loft, the former staff quarters of Noddsdale House, has been completely renovated to provide luxurious top quality 4 star accommodation for up to 5 people.

Surrounded by mature gardens and trees and with views over the Firth of Clyde to the islands of Cumbrae, Bute and Arran and yet only 5 minutes away from the bustling town of Largs, this is the best of both worlds. Walk up the hill behind the house for stunning views of the Clyde on the West Coast of Scotland. There are many golf courses in Ayrshire; two in Largs, one on Cumbrae, one at West Kilbride and the more famous ones at Troon and Turnberry to name but a few. Nearby attractions include Mount Stuart, home of the Marquis of Bute, Culzean Castle, to the south of Ayr, Brodick Castle on the island of Arran and a distillery. The Cathedral of the Isles, the smallest cathedral in Great Britain is in the town of Millport on Cumbrae and Glasgow is only 50 minutes away by car or train with its many museums, theatres and concert halls. At the south end of Largs, there is Kelburn Country Park and Castle, owned by The Earl of Glasgow and a busy marina, which boasts several shops and eating places.

There are a number of good restaurants in the area, so there is no need to travel too far. On the other hand if you like to explore we can recommend a drive to Loch Fyne and the famous Oyster Bar taking in Inverary Castle for a good day out, or take a day trip on the Paddle Steamer Waverley in the summer months. Ayrshire is a most attractive part of Scotland and makes an ideal base for exploring some of the West Coast.

The East WIng accommodation is flexible. The entrance is by ten steps and brings you into a spacious hall. The kitchen/dining room is to the right, is well equipped and includes a dishwasher, microwave, magimix, split level cooker and a fridge with an ice box.
A passage to the rest of the flat is to the left of the hall leading to the bedroom with a 5 foot double bed which can be turned into two 2�6� singles. There is one wc in the bathroom with a bath and basin. The sitting room is at the end of the passage and has a double sofa bed in addition to the sofa and chairs provided. It is most unusual and beautiful with a pitched wooden ceiling. There is a telephone with an honesty box. There is the added option of a single bed in the hall and plenty of storage space.

The Bell Loft has 2 bedrooms which can either have superking or single beds. All linen is 250 thread count 100% Egyptian cotton. There are 2 bathrooms, both ith baths and showers (one spacious cubicle, the other over bath) and plenty of sumptious towels. The living/dining/kitchen area is a charming room with an open fire, a flat screen TV and DVD. There is Wi Fi and a sofa bed for a 5th person if required. The kitchen is equipped to an excellent standard with a dishwasher and masses of cutlery, crockery and glass. The worktop is zodiaq quartz and there is a Belfast sink.

From the North: follow M8/A8/A78 through Greenock to Largs. Approximately half a mile inside the 30mph (there is a 40mph limit first) turn left into Douglas Street at the signs for Brisbane Glen Road and the National Sports Centre and follow the directions from Douglas Street below.
From the South: follow the A78 to Largs and proceed to the North end of the Esplanade. Turn right in to Douglas Street at the signs for Brisbane Glen Road and the National Sports Centre and follow the directions from Douglas Street below.

From the East: take the A737 to Irvine at Glasgow Airport, then after nine miles turn right on to the A760 passing Lochwinnoch, through Kilbirnie and on to Largs. Turn right at the lights at the bottom of the hill and follow the main road to the north end of the Esplanade. Turn right up Douglas Street at the signs for Brisbane Glen Road and the National Sports Centre and follow the directions from Douglas Street below.
From Douglas Street: follow the road into Brisbane Glen, past Kilburn Water on the left and the cemetery on the right. Once past the restriction signs take the third entrance on the right marked Private Road and drive up the hedge lined avenue � Noddsdale House is at the top.

Changeover day is usually Saturday, other start days are considered � please ask. Arrival time between 4 � 6pm and departure 10am, unless otherwise arranged. Short breaks are also available. Discounts are given for families or for stays of two weeks or more.
