Carsebuie is an enchanting country cottage set in an idyllic location in an area of outstanding natural beauty with stunning views over pastures and woodland to the majestic Galloway Hills. The cottage is surrounded by a large private garden, orchard and woods with moss covered stone dykes, an ideal haven for wildlife including the frequent red squirrels and brown hares and displaying colour nearly all year round. This part of Scotland is renowned for its great choice of activities for all ages.

The property is perfectly situated; you can walk in the surrounding countryside and immediately feel the sense of space and seclusion, but you are near enough to be able to pop into the local village shop for provisions and newspapers. The nearby market town of Newton Stewart offers a whole range of facilities and amenities from the leisure centre, cinema and tennis courts to numerous cafes and restaurants serving local produce and a wide variety of shops.

If you are looking for beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches there is a choice from less than 30 mins drive at Sandhead, Garlieston, Luce Bay and Port William. Mountain biking is popular in the area with nearby Kirroughtree and the famous 7Stanes. Horse riding is available for all levels just 15 minutes away. If fishing is your favourite pastime it is possible to obtain fly fishing permits on various nearby lochs and rivers and there are opportunities for sea fishing trips from Cairnryan, Stranraer and Portpatrick. A whole variety of outdoor pursuits are available with golf (the region boasts 30 courses most in fabulous settings), shooting, fishing, hill walking, sailing, windsurfing, mountain balling, off road and tank driving and many more all for your enjoyment. There are also numerous places of interest to visit, castles and caves, exotic gardens, museums and galleries, open farms and wildlife parks.

Carsebuie is on the outskirts of the Galloway Forest Park, 5 miles from Kircown and 8 miles from the market town of Newton Stewart with cinema, outdoor activity shops, banks, health centre. Stranraer with waterfront pleasure park, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, and leisure centre and Portpatrick are 25 minutes and 30 minutes drive. The Belfast ferry docks at Stranraer, and the Larne ferry docks at nearby Cairnryan.

The wonderful beach of Rigg Bay in Garlieston can be reached within half an hour. Bikes can be hired and delivered to the cottage. Walkers will enjoy the varied choice from gentle walks right from the cottage and a little further at Loch Trool and along coastal paths to the more strenuous but well worth the effort Galloway Hills. Mountain biking at Kirroughtree and the famous 7 Stanes is excellent, and there is good fishing, horseriding and watersports all available nearby. For garden lovers you are spoilt for choice, with a range of at least 9 lovely gardens to visit within the county. Boat trips can usually be taken from nearby Port Patrick, and Cairnryan.

Accommodation:
Carsebuie is a 19th century traditional stone and slate built farm steading with a lovely homely feel. Through the entrance hall is the living room with sofa bed, wood burner, Video/DVD, CD/radio and telephone and conservatory with door to the garden terrace. The country kitchen with washing machine and ceiling mounted drying rack, fridge freezer, cooker and microwave also has a dining area with seating for 10 and a window seat overlooking the garden. There is a ground floor bathroom with bath, WC and washbasin, a single/bunk room overlooking the garden and a double bedroom overlooking the courtyard and the pretty herb beds. Also on the ground floor is a porch with door to the garden and the staircase. Upstairs are two further bedrooms each sleeping 2 with coombed ceilings and an upstairs WC and washbasin.

Outside there are 2 stone barns either side of the courtyard, one for storing bicycles and outdoor equipment and one games room with table tennis table. There is garden furniture and barbeque. The garden with woodland extends to approximately one and a half acres with red squirrels and delightful birdlife. There is an enclosed section of the garden and a wooden play shed/studio.

Directions:
Carsebuie is on the outskirts of the Galloway Forest Park, 5 miles from Kircown and 8 miles from the market town of Newton Stewart. Newton Stewart is just off the main A75 which runs from Gretna (just north of Carlisle) to Stranraer.

All bed linen and towels are provided. Heating, electricity and logs for the stoves are included.

Cost and availability.
This secluded cottage is rented out year round.
Weekly lets are generally Friday - Friday or Saturday - Saturday.
Short breaks are available either weekend or midweek.
