Merlindale Holiday Apartment, with its own entrance and parking space, is part of a traditional Victorian country house set in sixteen acres of beautiful parkland by the banks of the River Tweed. The surrounding area has been designated a National Scenic Area in the Scottish Borders. A gentle stroll from the house takes you to Merlin's Grave by the River Tweed and other local sights associated with Merlin. It has been awarded 5 stars from Visit Scotland so you can be assured that you are staying in top quality Scottish self-catering accommodation!

The Scottish Borders offer a myriad of sporting activities including fishing (both salmon and trout), shooting (pheasant, partridge and duck), riding, golfing and cycling. It is also an ideal area for walkers, with beautiful walks accessible straight from the back door of Merlindale. St Mary's Loch and Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall, 14 miles away, are particularly worth a visit, with wonderful scenery to admire. There are many tourist attractions within a few miles of the property which cater for all tastes, including the country house of Traquair and the Botanic Gardens at Dawyck.

Three miles from Merlindale is the famous Stobo Castle Health Spa which operates non-residential beauty days with a wide selection of treatments available. The Border towns of Peebles, Biggar and Melrose are within easy distance and are renowned for their attractive shops, crafts and restaurants. Edinburgh is only forty minutes by car, with many places of interest to visit including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House, and a wide range of museums and galleries. Edinburgh is also host to a number of attractions and spectacles throughout the year, including the world-renowned Edinburgh Festival, the Tattoo, the Fringe and the Book Festival in August and the Fireworks at New Year.

Merlindale Holiday Apartment is a self-contained two bedroom apartment on the ground floor of Merlindale House. It has been refurbished to a very high standard and has been awarded a five star rating from Visit Scotland.

The house is situated in 16 acres of wood and parkland which border the River Tweed. There are two entrance doors: one leads into a spacious hall which connects to all the other rooms, while the other leads into the utility room. The hall has a table tennis table for the use of guests. The sitting-room looks out over the grounds at the back of the house: it has a dining table and four chairs as well as settees and a flat screen television. There is also a log burning stove, with logs provided. The kitchen has a fan assisted oven, ceramic hob and Belfast sink in hand-made painted wooden kitchen units. There is a dresser to match the units and a table with four chairs. Leading off the kitchen is the utility room with the refrigerator, dishwasher, washer-dryer and additional sink.

The two bedrooms consist of one double with a king sized bed and one twin-bedded room. The bathroom is spacious and is fitted with a large shower and there is also a separate shower room. The whole apartment is light and airy and has its own hot water and central heating controls. Ample parking is available directly outside the front door.

By Road:
Approaching from the M6 south, take the A701 through Moffat towards Edinburgh. Just before Broughton take the B712, a right hand turning signposted Peebles and Stobo. About a mile from the turning and just before the Merlindale Bridge over the River Tweed turn left into the drive signed Merlindale and drive up to the front of the house.
Approaching from the Edinburgh Ring Road, take the A701 signposted Carlisle. Once you have passed through Broughton look for a left hand turn signposted Peebles and Stobo, B712. Then continue as above.

What's included:
Linen, towels, some toiletries and slippers are provided, as well as a welcome pack of provisions. Electricity, logs and central heating are also provided.

Cost and availability.
Rental period Saturday to Saturday; arrival after 2 pm and departure by 10 am. Short-breaks are available by arrangement.
