Just 5 miles from Arbroath lies the Kinblethmont estate. Set in private woods, it is a peaceful haven with an abundance of birds and wildlife. Around the cottage you can see deer and red squirrels and listen to a chorus of birdsong. Kinblethmont Estate comprises 3000 acres of rolling Angus countryside with unspoilt views towards the Angus glens to the north and Arbroath and the coast to the south.

The area is a perfect holiday destination with a wide variety of activities and amenities available for all ages. The spectacular beaches of Lunan Bay and the Montrose Basin are within easy driving distance and are a great treat both in the summer and winter. If you are looking to play some golf then Letham Grange golf course is only a mile away and can be reached on foot from Kinblethmont House. A short drive will take you to one of several excellent local courses and both the Championship courses of Carnoustie and St Andrews are less than an hours drive. There are opportunities for both sea and river fishing, cycling, hillwalking, skiing in the winter at Glenshee and you can even learn to traction kite at Lunan bay. The area is also rich in historic interest with Glamis Castle and Scone Palace both well worth a visit.

The old fishing town of Arbroath is famous for its Arbroath smokies. Wander down to the picturesque harbour and see them being hot smoked in the traditional way. The visitor centre at the impressive Arbroath Abbey explains the importance of the 14th century Declaration of Arbroath and how it has affected Scotland's history. There is further historic exploration to be undertaken in Dundee, the city of Discovery. Visit the award winning experience centre and Captain Scott's Antarctic expedition ship Discovery. Dundee also offers good restaurants, theatres and the Dundee Contemporary Arts centre for a taste of modern day culture.

Accommodation:
The Chauffeurs Cottage was originally built as staff accommodation for Kinblethmont House (the cottage is adjacent to Kinblethmont House). It has been completely refurbished to give high quality holiday accommodation with a fresh, yet cosy, feel.

The holiday accommodation is on two floors. Downstairs is very light and airy with an entrance vestibule and WC, spacious, fully equipped kitchen diner and large but cosy sitting room with woodburning stove and plenty of comfortable seating. Upstairs there are three bedrooms. One double bedroom with kingsize bed and ensuite shower room, and two twin rooms, one with private shower room and the other with private bathroom. The beds in the twin rooms can be attached together if required (please ask). At the front of the house is the parking area and private terrace with outdoor furniture and BBQ. The surrounding woodland and estate (excepting Kinblethmont house private garden) makes a wonderful extended garden for you to explore and you can use the garden games in the walled garden.

The owners have installed a woodchip bioboiler for Kinblethmont House and cottages so all your heating and hot water is fuelled by wood from Kinblethmont estate - very environmentally friendly!

Next to the Chauffeurs Cottage is Kinblethmont Studio with 2 ensuite bedrooms. The two can be joined if required to give a large 5 bedroom and 5 bathroom house.

Location:
From Arbroath, take the A933 road towards Brechin. At Colliston (about 3 miles) turn right before the church sign posted "Letham Grange". Follow this road to a T junction, turn left and then right into Kinblethmont Estate. Follow the metalled road up the hill until you get to a sign that says 'cottages'. Follow the sign and turn down the driveway signed 'Chauffeurs cottage and the Studio'. The Chauffeurs Cottage is the house on the left.

What's included:
The cost of heating is included in the rental price and there is an initial supply of logs. All bed linen and towels are provided.
If the cottage is rented when there is an exhibition in Kinblethmont Gallery, guests will have free tea and coffee at the gallery when it is open. If you are at the cottage on a gallery opening night, you'll be invited to the opening drinks party. The cottage is a no smoking cottage.

Cost and availability:
The cottage is rented out year round.
Rental periods are ususally from Friday to Friday, though this may be flexible. Some weekend/short breaks are available - please ask for details.
