Cottages in Argyll

cottages sleeping 1 to 4 people in Perthshire

Tigh Ban Lek is a traditionally built stone and wood cottage and is set in an area of dramatic natural scenic beauty. The house enjoys a hillside location from where there are spectacular views south and west to Craobh Haven, Shuna, Luing, Scarba and Jura. On a clear day Islay can also be seen.

There is a wealth of activities all within a short distance from the cottage. Argyll is one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland offering everything from beaches, lochs, history, walking and stunning scenery. The cottage is furnished in a modern and comfortable style providing spacious accommodation for up to 6 people. Everything is provided at Tigh Ban Lek for you to enjoy a relaxing holiday in a wonderful location.

The choice of walks from the area are numerous. A steep climb of less than 15 minutes from the back door (depending upon how fit you are!) brings you to a stunning view. A little further afield, there is a network of forestry walks of varying distances and, for the less energetic, a gentle stroll along the towpath of the Crinan Canal.

Craobh Haven is a short distance by car from the cottage and is a popular purpose built holiday and sailing village. The village overlooks a group of small inshore islands which now shelter a fine yacht marina. The village has an excellent pub serving good quality food; horse riding and water sports are also available near to the village. Approx half a mile north from Tigh Ban Lek is the Loch Melfort Hotel, lying at the entrance to the famous Arduaine Gardens. The hotel has an excellent bistro, bar and formal restaurant so there is a good choice of places to eat if you want a break from cooking on your self-catering holiday!

A choice of local boat trips are offered leaving from nearby Craobh Haven, Crinan and Easdale. These allow you to take in closer views of the islands and the famous Gulf of Corryvreckan (the third largest whirlpool in the world). For those wishing to travel further afield then Oban is the Gateway to the Isles with ferry services to many Inner Hebrides locations.

The garden of the cottage attracts wildlife and many guests have seen red squirrels and deer. A lot of birds visit the bird feeder on the balcony and we have bird books available for those interested in distinguishing the different visitor types.
