This is a very special place to stay! Situated in the centre of Scotland, Perthshire is perfect for a great Scottish holiday and it's only a couple of hours by road or rail from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Here you'll find world class fishing; walking routes ranging from forest trails to treks up into the mountains; great cycling both on and off road and lots of golf courses. There are castles and distilleries to visit; museums and galleries; the Festival Theatre in Pitlochry and the wonderful Watermill Bookshop in Aberfeldy; and, of course, plenty of pubs and restaurants serving excellent local food.

Alternatively, you might be content just to put up a deckchair, pour a glass of wine and relax in front of some of the finest scenery in Scotland. And nowhere will you find better than around Loch Tay.

Pier Cottage has been a much loved holiday home for over 15 years. It is a charming traditional stone built cottage with its own little garden and a bridge that takes you over the Ardtalnaig burn and down to the loch shore, only a short walk away. From there you can see right down Loch Tay, west to Ben More, while Ben Lawers immediately across the loch towers high above you. And you can fish for trout, launch your boat, go for a swim or set off on a canoe trip up the loch.

Pier Cottage sits only a few metres from the Ardtalnaig burn; heaven to sit here at the garden table with a glass of white wine, on a warm summer evening, and watch the water flow by. This is a very old cottage retaining many of its original features and is one of the prettiest on the south side of Loch Tay.

Accommodation
Pier Cottage is furnished in a simple fresh style - lots of white paint, mixed with striped and checked fabrics and some antique linen; while the furniture is a mix of old painted pieces and genuine antiques. The downstairs rooms still have their original tongue and groove wall panelling. There are lots of interesting pictures and bits and pieces, reflecting the owner's penchant for collecting odd things! There are loads of books and magazines and games. Pier Cottage is truly a home form home and when you arrive we hope you will feel instantly relaxed and comfortable.

The porch is a perfect place where you can sit and enjoy the morning sun and a view of the garden. The utility room has lots of space for coats and wellies etc, with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, pulley, fridge freezer and microwave. The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of tea towels etc. New and modern, the kitchen has hob, oven, dishwasher and sink. The dining area has an antique table and chairs and a wonderful old dresser piled high with old plates, bowls and jugs. There is a little study with book shelves and desk and then a comfortable sitting room with sofa and chairs, lots of cushions and throws; log burning stove, television, DVD and stereo system.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms; one double and one twin. Both have comfy beds, lovely quilts, electric blankets, good bed linen and towels. Plenty of cupboard space, hair dryer and alarm clocks (and you can lie in bed and listen to the river!) There is a brand new white bathroom with bath and hand shower, linen cupboard, tongue and groove walls, heated towel rail and shaver socket.

Directions to Pier Cottage
From Aberfeldy head west on the A827 for about 6 miles until you come down hill towards Loch Tay where the road takes a very sharp bend to the right. Do not turn right, but go straight across the junction onto the narrow road that's facing you. This is the South Loch Tay road and it follows the side of the loch due west. Follow the road for 6.2 miles until you come down hill into the village of Ardtalnaig. The farm is on your right and immediately past the farm entrance there's a bridge. Just over the bridge, turn right through the rusty white metal gate and go down the road 100 yards and you'll find Pier Cottage on the left.

What's included?
A 'Welcome Pack' consisting of a bottle of white wine, freshly baked bread, butter, eggs and milk.

The store cupboard is stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, olive oil and vinegar, herbs and spices, flour, marmalade, mustard and even a bottle of ketchup

In the bathroom you'll find soaps, shampoo and conditioner and extra loo rolls

Electricity (within reason), logs for the wood burning stove and bed linen and towels are all included.
