Lochside Lodge is situated in highland Perthshire and the picturesque Upper Tay Valley, 7 miles from Aberfeldy, amidst some of Scotland's grandest scenery. The lodge has an idyllic setting in the heart of Glengoulandie Country Park, it was newly built in 2008 and is beautifully furnished and in a superb location - you are sure to have a holiday to remember.

Lochside Lodge is one of only sixteen privately-owned detached country lodges in an exceptional position overlooking a lochan and with breathtaking views of the fairy mountain Schiehallion. Sitting on the decking with a glass of wine right beside the water's edge there is an abundance of wildlife all around - red deer, white stag, highland cattle, birds of prey and trout surfacing on the loch. You can watch the sun setting behind the rambling mountains...... breathtaking.

Nearby is the award-winning Fortingall Hotel and village famous for is 5000 year old yew tree, the oldest living tree in Europe. Picturesque Fortingall has beautiful old thatched roof cottages, church and graveyard and is a lovely place to visit - it also boasts of being the birthplace to Pontius Pilate.

Children will enjoy the Highland Adventure Safaris and Gold Panning visitor centre, offering 4X4 safari adventure, gold and gem panning, or the nearby paintballing centre. Also nearby, Castle Menzies is a must. The clan Menzies and castle were heavily involved in Scotland's turbulent and often violent history, the castle was rebuilt in 1571 after being destroyed by the Stuart clan in a land dispute.

Aberfeldy is 8 miles away and has been voted the best place to live in the UK. It has shops, restaurants, golf, cafes, galleries, a wonderful book store, walks, forest walks, fishing, boating, cycling, mountain biking and lots more. Follow the Aberfeldy Town Trail which starts at the square where you'll see a distinctive fountain first erected in 1885 and can admire the Art Deco building on the corner. The trail ends at Wade's Bridge built in 1733 before any of the town existed.

The Birks of Aberfeldy consist of woodland gorges, waterfalls and rapids for almost 2 miles up to the Falls of Moness; named by Robert Burns who wrote a well-known poem about them in 1787. The circular walk also has a nature trail with a collection of exotic trees and shrubs, seats and view points along the way.

A visit to the village of Kenmore is also recommended with the famous Kenmore Hotel, Scotland's oldest inn, built in 1572. Robert Burns stayed here in 1782 and etched a poem into the fireplace which can still be seen. Taymouth Castle, a gothic pile that was built in 1810, is complete with an 18 hole golf course. The beautiful lochside beach has breathtaking views down the length of the loch and you can hire boats and water sports equipment. Don't forget to take the children to the Scottish Crannog Centre on the banks of Loch Tay.

Lochside Lodge is also ideally located to visit other popular Scottish towns such as Pitlochry, Callender and Dunkeld. Pitlochry is only a 40 minute drive away and is famous for its Festival Theatre.
