Woodcutters Cabin is set in the heart of Royal Deeside in the spectacular woodland estate of Blelack, adjacent to the Cairngorm National Park. It is located within walking distance of the village of Logie Coldstone in the Highlands of Scotland. It sits at the foot of Morven - meaning big hill.

The cabin provides a platform from which many local attractions can be explored, but yet is secluded in a tranquil woodland setting that allows you also to do nothing at all except enjoy the peace and quiet. A pair of wild red squirrels may entertain you with their antics if you leave out some nuts. It is an ideal base to explore the Cairngorms National Park and Royal Deeside. The estate is a haven for many species of wildlife and wild flowers and the surrounding area is steeped in history, with many castles and sites of historic interest which are all within a short drive.

One particular site of historic interest is Poldhu Wells whose waters boast healing properties. This is about 500 meters from the cabin in the same woodland. Both Aboyne and Ballater are within 10 miles of Logie Coldstone and they house an abundance of quality restaurants and tourist attractions including gliding, fishing, walking, windsurfing, water skiing, golf and pony trekking.

Woodcutters Cabin is available for both week, weekend and short breaks in the beautiful countryside that Queen Victoria loved so much and the present Royal Family still enjoys.

Accommodation:
The Cabin has been finished to a high standard. It offers a double and a twin bedroom, a bathroom with walk in shower and a fully fitted kitchen. It comfortably accommodates 4 persons, 5 at a push with a camp bed in the living room.

The living room is spacious where you can relax in comfort with a homely wood burning stove and TV. It is furnished with high quality leather sofas and a breakfast bar with four stools. All windows are double glazed and the cabin benefits from modern insulation enabling it to be particularly cosy in winter, but yet cool in the summer. The stove provides the hot water which in turn provides the heat to a hot water circuit which circulates through the radiators in every room. Please note that the wood burning stove can get too hot to touch, so caution is required particularly with younger children.

Directions:
The cabin is about 35 minutes from Aberdeen Airport or 45 minutes from Aberdeen city centre.
To get there take the North Deeside road along through the famous towns and villages that make up Deeside. Proceed through Banchory, Kincardine ONeil, Aboyne and on to Dinnet. Between Aboyne and Dinnet you will be informed that you are entering both the Cairngorms and the Highlands of Scotland by virtue of two inscriptions on two rocks. After that it is simple, turn right at Dinnet (sign posted Huntley, Logie Coldstone and The Lecht ski centre). Proceed on to Logie Coldstone. As you approach the village there are two thirty mile an hour road signs that you can see simultaneously. One of the signs is a forewarning that you are approaching a 30 mile an hour zone the other sign is the 30 mile an hour zone. Woodcutters Cabin is situated in to the right between the signs, in the forest.

What's included:
The cabin comes complete with TV, Free Sat and a DVD player. The double room and twin room are made up with freshly laundered linen and towels and there is a full set of crockery and cooking utilities for 6 and also some kitchen condiments. Fire lighters and an abundance of logs are provided for the stove and outside there is a charcoal BBQ.
There are also some novels and DVDs for the odd wet day. This is operated on an honesty policy which means feel free to take home the book you havent finished, but leave the one you have already read. This is true also for the DVDs.

Cost and availability of cottage
The cottage is rented out year round.
Short breaks, full week and weekend stays are offered, check in days are Monday and Friday.
On arrival you will be greeted by Carol and she will have a roaring fire on for you. The owners ask that you telephone her in advance to inform her of your anticipated time of arrival.
Carol will give you keys and show you how to operate the Cabin, inclusive of the stove, and answer any of your questions. The stove remains lit for about 6-8 hours without needing replenished. Dependent on your plans you might wish to discuss with Carol if she might top up the stove if you are away for long periods. If you intend spending 12 hours away skiing or on the water fishing you might be very grateful on your return for such a service! Please be aware this is entirely dependent on Carols availability.
