The gorgeous five thatched cottages which make up Clan Cottages are sympathetically designed to integrate and blend with the surrounding landscape and are built to recreate a Celtic settlement - a perfect reflection of Scotland's past. They are situated on the the shores of Loch Nell and the River Nell, a stunning and very peaceful location within a 6 minutes drive from the town of Oban and all its amenities. Each cottage can sleep 2 - 6 visitors in luxury accommodation. The group of cottages includes a one bedroom cottage with a beautiful mezzanine lounge - perfect for honeymoon couples. There are also three 2 bedroom cottages, one which has been designed and built to suit anyone who has mobility problems, and one three bedroom cottage.
The area is blessed with an abundance of wildlife and it is the ideal location for fishing, walking, hill climbing, cycling, swimming in the loch and river, and exploring the archaeological features of the area. Camera and binoculars are a must! The location is also an ideal base for exploring Argyll and the islands. The ferry leaves from Oban daily to visit Mull and Iona and a number of other Hebridean islands as well.
Kilmore is a vibrant community with an annual Highland Games which attracts top athletes and dancers. The church dates back to 1876 but there are also ruins of the original church built in 1450. There are several other historically important sites in the area including crannogs in Loch Nell and a Serpents Mound burial cairn on the shores of the loch. Argyll has some glorious gardens to visit as well as castles and distilleries. The Oban area is a perfect part of Scotland for a self-catering holiday - and these stunning thatched cottages are just idyllic!

Accommodation:
Clan Cottages is a recently built group of self catering holiday accommodation, set within five acres of ground. The five cottages are built in traditional stone and thatch with spacious, modern, high quality interiors, designed to provide all home comforts and more! All cottages have their own garden area to relax in and are either overlooking the loch or river. There is parking space by each cottage.
Four out of the five cottages are all on the level. The special one bedroom Clan MacKenzie cottage has a beautiful mezzanine lounge overlooking the downstairs sitting area.
It also has a feature interior stone wall. Clan MacDonald cottage has been specially built with people with mobility problems in mind and there are some disability aids available.
Most cottages have double ensuite rooms and twin rooms (zip-link super-king beds). All cottages have gas central heating throughout and a living flame gas fire in the sittingroom. The cottages are very well insulated and so are very cosy in winter and cool in summer. Each cottage has a Clan Cottage welcome pack on arrival.
Cottage directions:
From Glasgow take the A82 to Crianlarich, then take the A85 (signposted Oban). Clan Cottages is 4 miles south of Oban. From Oban take the A816 south to Kilmore.
Next you will pass the village hall on the left.
Take a left turn just past the hall. You will see a sign for 'Thatched Holiday Cottages'.
Carry on this single track road for half a mile, you'll come to a small crossroads, just continue left for about a quarter of a mile and you will
see the cottages on the right.
What's included:
Price includes all gas and electricity, towels, and bed linen. Eco friendly dishwasher/washing machine tablets, hand soap etc are also provided. Please ask if you require a travel cot and/or highchair.
No smoking in all cottages. The 2 bedroom Clan MacDonald cottage and 3 bedroom Clan MacKinnon cottage are pet friendly.
Cost and availability:
The holiday cottages are open all year round. Change over day is flexible with check in from 4pm and check out at 10am.
Short breaks are available with a minimum of 2 nights.
