Oban is also the gateway to the isles and is the ideal base to explore the islands as ferries leave from Oban to various islands daily throughout the summer. If wishing to take your car it is advisable to book in advance.
Fort William and Glencoe and Glen Orchy are an hour away from us by car.
Inveraray is also an hour away from Oban by car. Inveraray Castle, home to the Duke of Argyll, is well worth a visit. The 2012 Christmas Special of Downton Abbey was also filmed on location here.
