This is the perfect location for a holiday cottage in Perthshire: a haven of peace and tranquillity, yet only 10 mins from Auchterarder with its impressive selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and delicatessen. The world famous Gleneagles Hotel Resort is also on the doorstep with spectacular golf courses, one of Europe's best spas, equestrian, falconry, shooting and off-road driving schools. For a special or romantic meal treat yourself at the 2 star Michelin restaurant there.
Perthshire's largest city, Perth, a pretty market town on the River Tay, is conveniently located only 15 mins from The Retreat. Here you will find a theatre, concert hall, cinema, art galleries, swimming pool, ice rink and museums. There is also a good selection of quality shops, restaurants and pubs ... something for everyone!
Guests at the Retreat are now able to enjoy the use of a new artificial grass/astro tennis court, a short distance from the cottage with the same stunning views across the valley.
For those interested in Scottish culture and heritage, The Retreat is well positioned to visit Scone Palace (15 mins), Stirling Castle (30 mins), Glenturret Whisky Distillery (10 mins), Drummond Castle Gardens (10 mins), to name but a few. A short 10 minute drive will take you to Crieff and the Gateway to the Highlands for a stunning tour up to the beautiful Scottish glens and lochs. The Retreat is centrally located to enjoy Scotland's most famous golf courses: Gleneagles championship courses are only 10 mins away and both St Andrews Old Course and The Carnoustie Open Championship Course can be reached within an hour.
For those interested in wildlife, there is an abundance on the estate ranging from nesting ospreys, seaeagles and other birds of prey; lapwings, oyster catchers, curlews and other waders are plentiful. Watch magnificent skeins of geese flying overhead and large numbers of swans meandering down the river. Red squirrels and large numbers of game can also be seen on the estate including pheasant, partridge, hare, roe and red deer. There is access to a 3 mile private beat on the river Earn, hosting salmon, sea trout, grayling and the odd otter!

Accommodation:
This gorgeous holiday retreat is reached by private access and is surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Trinity Gask Estate with its private woodlands, ponds and fishing beats on the River Earn. The cottage sits in a large enclosed beech hedged garden with a coppice of silver birch trees and a collection of huge sandstone boulders. Wonderful open stretches of flat lawn make the garden ideal for dogs and children�s play. Enjoy al fresco dining on the sheltered sun terrace and partially covered decking area or relax on the sun loungers and soak in the stunning open views south over the Strathearn valley.
The cottage has been lovingly restored and successfully marries the charm of a traditional stone house with the best progressive eco-build practices. Relax and enjoy the benefits of sleeping in a breathable, allergy free house with organic hemp insulation, solid oak wooden floors throughout with underfloor heating (from a natural, ground source heat pump), the paints are also carefully chosen non-odour and eco-friendly. Feel the satisfaction of re-harvesting rainwater, recycling (made easy with convenient storage and collection) and using a peat waste soak away.
The interior of this special cottage is simple, fresh and contemporary. There is a large, high-ceilinged, open-plan kitchen/living area with a stylish contemporary kitchen complete with Caithness stone worktops and a dining table for 8. In the living area, large comfortable leather sofas are perfect for stretching out on in front of the open fire. For your entertainment there is a 37 inch HD flat screen TV, DVD, Ipod docking station, CD/radio player and a Karaoke machine! There is a good selection of games and an abundance of touring, walking and cycling maps as well as interesting books on Scottish wildlife, history and culture.
There are two spacious bedrooms: the double room has two windows with views west (perfect for evening sun) towards woodlands and Ben Vorlich. The superking size bed can be rearranged to create a twin bedroom if desired. All beds are extremely comfortable and made up with crisp Egyptian cotton linen. Both bedrooms have more than ample hanging and shelf space and come with hairdryers. The twin room is high-ceilinged and extremely bright, 2 east and 1 south windows provide uninterrupted views across the valley. The bathroom has a big doubled ended bath, separate walk in shower and is stocked with organic shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion.
Adjacent to the back door is a separate outhouse, which is the perfect washing and drying room. There is a large stainless steel sink, washing machine, plenty of cupboard and hanging space, an overhead pulley and underfloor heating. Spacious, airy and warm, it is the ideal place for pets to sleep when they are not in the garden.

The Retreat is ideally located for a holiday in Perthshire, Scotland, an hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports and half an hour from Dundee. The nearest railway station at Gleneagles is 5 miles away and the city of Perth is a 15 mins drive. Directions will be given on booking.

A max of 2 dogs can be housed in the spacious outhouse with underfloor heating and large fenced in garden. Horses welcome, there is a grazing paddock close to house.
All bed linen is provided: Egyptian cotton sheets, quality duvets, bedspreads and towels.
The price includes a welcome pack, all eco/organic cleaning materials, washing up liquid, firelighters, matches, cling film, tin foil, tea towels, kitchen roll, bin bags, sewing and first aid kits and a shoe cleaning basket. Quality organic soap, shampoo and body lotion are stocked in the bathroom.
Come to The Retreat and enjoy a warm Scottish welcome: the house is scented by flowers picked from the garden. Indulge in a generous selection of fresh organic eggs from the estate, home baking, organic bread, butter, milk, a local preserve, fair-trade fresh coffee and teas.
