Trout are plentiful and even if you don't want to fish, it is lovely to spend time on the water - just admiring the beautiful loch or having a family picnic - the Scottish air will help you to completely unwind.

There is so much to do in the area - Taymouth Castle golf course is nearby and there are good 9 hole courses at Kenmore, Strathtay and Killin (all within half an hour from Loch Tay Lodges). The walking is fantastic and there is plenty of wildlife and birds to see (if you are lucky you might spot a golden eagle soaring over the mountains). As well as fishing, Loch Tay and the River Tay offer white water rafter, water skiing and canoeing. You are centrally located near Loch Tay, so can also visit the east or west coast of Scotland - but with so much to see and do on your doorstep you probably won't want to travel too far!

Directions:

Aberfeldy is approx two hours' driving from Glasgow airport, fractionally less from Edinburgh. There are railway stations at Pitlochry and Dunkeld, on the main Inverness line, both within about 45 minutes' driving. The city of Perth is one hour's drive to the south, Inverness two hours to the north.

From the A9 take the A827 to Aberfeldy.
