The charming village of Kenmore sits at the eastern end of Loch Tay in the Perthshire highlands and is surrounded by some of Scotland's most stunning scenery. The area is full of history: Queen Victoria spent her honeymoon at Taymouth Castle and it was this visit that started her love affair with Scotland.

Golf, horse riding, loch side beach, fishing, water sports, cycling, boat hire and riverside and forest walks are all within walking distance of The Orphanage. The village boasts excellent facilities including a pub, bistro, restaurant, deli, gift shop and Post Office.

If you do want to explore further afield then Glen Lyon, Scotland's longest and loveliest glen, is nearby; majestic Ben Lawers is a short distance along the loch; Fortingall village is just a few miles away and has beautiful thatched cottages and Britain's oldest tree. If shopping is your thing then don't miss a visit to The House of Bruar at Blair Atholl, known as the Harrods of the North! Golfers will be in their element as there are two golf courses in Kenmore and another four within a 30 min drive. Edinburgh and Glasgow are only 1.5 to 2 hours drive and you can reach both the west and east coasts within two hours.

Accommodation:
The Orphanage is located right on the banks of stunning Loch Tay and provides spectacular uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains, river and the loch itself. While large grounds provide a sense of seclusion, it is right in the heart of the atmospheric 16th century conservation village of Kenmore with all its amenities and activities.
BR> The property is a beautifully restored traditional highland house with private landscaped gardens that cascade gently down to the water's edge where you will find a private beach, boat launch and fishing onto the River Tay.

The house sleeps 8-10 and has 4 double bedrooms plus a snug with a double sofa bed. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower plus a balcony overlooking the loch. There is also a large family bathroom with bath and separate shower plus a shower room downstairs. The house is very well proportioned with generously sized bedrooms. The heart of the property is a huge dining/kitchen with a 16ft solid oak banquet kitchen table which seats 10. The 30ft living room has a log burner and French doors that lead onto the patio area with amazing views onto the loch.

Directions:
From the A9 take the exit at Ballinluig and follow the signs for Aberfeldy on the A827. Follow this road to Aberfeldy (approx 10 miles). Continue through the town of Aberfeldy on the A827, following the signs to Kenmore (approx 6 miles). You will pass the end of Loch Tay and then enter the village. As you come into the Square, you will see The Kenmore Hotel in front of you. Follow the road through the Square, past the church on your left. Just before the traffic lights on the bridge, you will see a turning on the left (you can see The Orphanage in front of you). Take this turning and then take the first right into the driveway.

The Orphanage is rented out throughout the year.
Change over day is Friday, check in 4pm, check out 10am.
