This is an elegant ground floor apartment (sleeps 2) in a historic building, which is situated in the centre of the small medieval town of Dunkeld. The accommdation is superb and tastefully decorated and perfect for a couple wanting to explore Perthshire. The magnificent historic cathedral, River Tay and the National Trust for Scotland's 'Little Houses' surround it, so the views from the property are very pretty.
Dunkeld is a delightful and very attractive town with some excellent small shops (including crafts, antiques and the famous Dunkeld Smoked Salmon shop) as well as an excellent deli, greengrocer and baker. There are also plenty of excellent places to eat on the doorstep - from a 4 star hotel to the local brasserie.
If you want to hear traditional Scottish fiddle music then Dunkeld is a perfect place to stay - the world-famous fiddler Dougie Maclean lives here and frequently plays in the town. Dunkeld Cathedral has a lovely programme of music on Sunday evenings in the summer. Children will love the Beatrix Potter garden in next door Birnam - she holidayed in the area as a child.
Dunkeld has an 18 hole golf course, and there are 40 golf courses in Perthshire so you will be spoilt for choice. This is great walking, fishing and golf country. Bicycles can be hired locally. There are lots of castles and houses nearby, as well as some amazing gardens. Bird watchers will be keen to catch sight of the rare osprey which nests nearby, and tree enthusiasts will be able to visit Britain's tallest tree at the Hermitage. There is so much to see and do nearby that a week won't be long enough!

Accommodation:
This is delightful accommodation for 2 - the pretty bedroom can either be a double or twin bedded room (with cotton bedlinen). There is a spacious sitting room (plus dining area) with comfortable furniture and TV and DVD player - the window faces onto Water Wynd, gardens and the cathedral trees. The modern kitchen is perfectly equipped and has lots of extras for keen cooks. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and grab rails for the less able - it is on the ground floor so easy access too.
Discounted weekly membership of Dunkeld Hilton leisure club is available if you want use of a swimming pool, gym etc. A minute's walk away are the riverside lawns where you can sit out it lovely surroundings - garden chairs are thoughtfully provided.
Directions:
By road:
From Perth take the A9 and go 12 miles north.
Take the second turning on right which is signposted to Dunkeld (not the first).
From Pitlochry on A9 proceed 12 miles south
Take first turning on left which is signposted to Dunkeld.
Then for both, cross over River Tay bridge, proceed 30 metres, take first turning on left into ‘The Cross' or square. Keep left and continue down past the ‘No Through Road' sign down Cathedral Street for 20 metres.
No. 6B Cathedral Street is the third red door on the left.
By rail:
Mainline trains to Birnam & Dunkeld station.
