Scottish islands

cottages sleeping 1 to 4 people in Perthshire

The Isle of Mull is what you might call a big, small island! Once on the island you relax immediately as you wind along mainly single track roads. The island provides the most idyllic holiday destination where you can simply chill out with a book and enjoy the most spectacular scenery or, at the other extreme, enjoy exhilarating 'rib rides' on the waters to catch any local sealife.

The sea provides you with the opportunity for various expeditions from Tobermory and Ulva Ferry to catch sight of whales, dolphins, basking sharks and seals. Fishing trips can also be organised on the sea as well as in the many inland lochs. Wildlife expeditions are available where eagles, otters and deer are just some of the exciting sightings. Reservations can be made with the Forest Ranger to visit the hide for eagle watching.

There are many trails to walk and cycle and the island hosts a 'Munro' on the Ross of Mull. A true Munro - from sea level! It is often kept to last for many who like to "bag" them due to its character and location. There is a romantic castle at Duart to visit and around the island there are various craft centres where you can view and buy items created locally. The character of the island changes from north to south and from east to west. The magical island of Iona where years of history can be explored is accessed from the south end of Mull.

Tobermory hosts the famous rainbow coloured buildings along the bay, featured on many Scottish calendars. The list of activities is long and varied providing something for everyone and the lodge provides the perfect base from which to explore or simply rest and enjoy the walks from the doorstep and the wonderful views from inside amidst the comfort provided.
