Ben Bhuidhe House is a newly-built family home situated in Calgary Bay literally right next to one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches in Scotland. The house is extremely well equipped, blends modern yet luxurious accommodation with traditional features and is set in 4 acres of private grounds. Whether you just want to relax, lap up the scenery and watch the sunset or you prefer a more adventurous holiday, this unique location offers it all. There are activities to suit all ages from exploring the coastline to hill walking, fishing, sailing, cycling, golf, pony trekking, boat and whale watching trips and Calgary is the perfect place for swimming, paddling and building fantastic sand castles!
A designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', wildlife abounds with otters, dolphins, seals, red deer, buzzards and eagles all within a stone's throw of the bay. The uninhabited Treshnish Islands are a paradise for bird watchers and in spring and early summer are home to literally thousands of sea birds. The island of Iona with its famous Abbey where St Columba landed in AD563 is also within striking distance as is Staffa and Fingal's Cave where volcanic rock formations form extraordinary hexagonal columns similar to those found on the Giant's Causeway.
There are lots of other attractions including castles, museums, craft centres, a whisky distillery, a narrow gauge railway, children's farm, the world's smallest professional theatre and of course the picturesque town of Tobermory - better known to children as Balamory!

Accommodation:
On the ground floor is an extremely well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, US style fridge freezer, microwave, food processor, slow cooker, coffee machine and bread maker. Cooking facilities include a ceramic hob with oven and grill as well as an 'Aga style' range. The open plan kitchen/dining room is a focal point of the house with a large extendable dining table and French windows which open onto the south facing patio and BBQ area. There is a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
Also on the ground floor are three comfortable bedrooms (two kingsizes doubles and one twin with memory foam mattresses and plenty of cupboard space), all with access to modern en-suite bath/shower rooms. There is also a family bathroom and separate WC.
The sitting room is situated on the first floor to take advantage of stunning views over the beach. Large south facing windows and a vaulted ceiling make the most of the sun and in colder weather the wood burning stove ensures the room is always cosy. The sitting room also benefits from a flat screen TV with Freeview box and surround sound, DVD player and iPod docking station all stored discretely in a fully enclosed cabinet. There is one further small twin bedroom suite with en-suite WC.
Directions:
From Craignure, turn right off the ferry and take A848 signposted Salen (from Fishnish, drive up to the main road - about 1 mile - and turn right onto the A848). At Salen, continue on the A848 signposted Tobermory. About 2 miles north of Salen the road splits just before a large stone bridge. Take the left turning signposted to Dervaig. At Dervaig turn left at the T-junction and follow the B8073 to Calgary. Drive past two whitewashed cottages, and the driveway up to Ben Bhuidhe House is approx 100 yards further up on the left.

Bed linen, pillows, duvets along with bath, hand and tea towels are provided.
Free wifi wireless internet connection and a telephone (please note there is no mobile phone signal in Calgary Bay).
Hand soaps, detergents and cleaning materials (including washing power, dishwasher tablets etc) are provided and there is weekly cleaning and servicing for stays of more than 1 week.
There is also a first aid box, hairdryer, water and food dishes for dogs, local maps, books, jigsaws and games for wet days!
Cost and availability:
This lovely Mull property is rented out all year. Change over is on Fridays - the house is available for occupancy from 5.00pm on the day of arrival until 10.00am on the day of departure.
