Seann Taigh (Old House) is a gorgeous original thatched cottage in the lovely island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The Western Isles offer a wonderful escape from 21st century life and this Hebridean self-catering cottage has been lovingly restored by the original crofting owners, to provide modern holiday accommodation whilst retaining all the charm of the original cottage.

This idyllic cottage in the Hebrides is an ideal holiday retreat and you can really get away from the demands of everyday life. With its magnificent views of Lochboisdale, out to the Minch and across to Skye, this South Uist cottage is in an ideal location to enjoy the peace and tranquility of island life. The Western Isles are famous for hill walking, fishing, wildlife and birdwatching - golden eagles, seals and dolphins are frequently spotted. On the west side of the island there are the lovely deserted white sandy beaches stretching for miles. Cycling around South Uist is easy and you can hire bicycles locally - there is even a golf course on the island! This is a great place to stay on Uist - one of the most unspoilt and remote parts of Scotland.

Accommodation:

This is a superb holiday home which has been restored to a very high standard. There is a double bedroom and a single bedroom, which is accessible from the sitting room (by ramsay ladder).

The kitchen and living area are open plan - the modern kitchen is well equipped and thought out. The comfortable sitting room has a double sofa as well as dining table and chairs. The bathroom has a white suite and a shower.

The cottage is very cosy throughout the year - autumn or winter breaks are popular too and there is under-floor heating throughout.

The self-catering cottage is situated in the quiet crofting village of South Lochboisdale, at the south end of the island.

South Uist is easily reached by Caledonian McBrayne ferries from Oban and Mallaig, or you can fly to Benbecula and then hire a car. The owners will provide you with full details on how to get there.

Linen, towels and heating are included within the rent.

Cost and availability:

This former croft is rented out year round. Short breaks are welcome. Rental periods are generally a week, Saturday to Saturday.
