A haven of peace and tranquility the Bothy is set in attractive rural surroundings - away from it all yet just 40 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh. It is a perfect holiday retreat for a couple wanting to get away from it all - ideal for a honeymoon or romantic break too!

From the minute you enter Balgonar drive, off a minor country road, the relaxation just sweeps over you. Horses and sheep graze behind the post and rail fence lining the drive on one side. On the other side is a semi-wild wooded area. The drive winds round away from the main house and the Bothy is right in front of you.

Balgonar is a small estate which includes a family-run mixed farm. The owners keep Aberdeen Angus cattle as well as the horses and sheep. It is the perfect spot for walking - whether it's a quiet stroll around the walled garden and the duck pond or a more adventurous hike into the hills. Within an hour of off-road walking you can enjoy some of the finest views in Central Scotland, looking to the Ochils and the distant Wallace Monument.

Accommodation:
Horses and sheep graze behind the post and rail fence lining the drive on one side, on the other is a semi-wild wooded area. The drive winds round away from the main house and the Bothy is right in front of you. Situated in the corner of the old stone steading the Bothy is adorned with flower baskets and wooden barrels bursting with colourful plants. On a warm summer evening a garden table and chairs on a slightly raised area overlooking the Bothy provide the perfect setting for a cocktail in the setting sun or even a barbecue.

With four-star refurbishment now finished the Bothy provides the ultimate luxury for a couple wanting a weekend away together. It is the romantic location, designed solely with couples in mind. A comfortable and luxuriously adorned king size bed provides the focal point in the subtly-lit apartment. There is a round table with two elegant leather chairs situated adjacent to door. On a summer day guests can enjoy the fresh air with all the comforts of the four-star accommodation. A leather sofa complete with recliners is set in front of a cosy-looking fire and a coffee table straining with interesting books and magazines.

And for those who want to tickle each others taste buds, the brand new, fully-equipped kitchen will make this treat an even greater pleasure. Imagine producing the ultimate romantic dinner while your loved one luxuriates next door in the brand new deep bath. Bring your iPod so your favourite music fills the Bothy while you simply enjoy one another's company or relax doing what you like best. If you don't like cooking or deep baths, there is a microwave and a wide-head power shower to make your stay extra special.

And why not arrive to a fridge stuffed with all your favourite foods and a full wine rack. Simply log-in to the Tesco home delivery service and order everything you need. It will be received for you and the necessary items put in the fridge.

Directions:
By road from the south via Forth Road Bridge: take the M90 towards Perth. Leave motorway at junction 4 (Kelty/Dollar) and turn left towards Dollar. After 1-2 miles fork right at toll house towards Saline. Follow the road signed to Saline. At the crossroads go straight on still following signs to Saline (it is about 5-miles from the toll house to Saline). You will pass through Steelend and then Saline. Leave the golf course on your left and go to the bottom of the hill. Turn right (signed for the cemetery) and immediately right again opposite the post office into Bridge Street. Follow Bridge Street for about 1 mile. You will leave the village and pass through several fields before coming to a turning on your left with a big white sign to 'West Balgonar'. Take the next entrance on the left and there is a small sign saying 'Balgonar' in the wall. The drive winds round away from the main house and the Bothy is right in front of you.

From the south via Kincardine Bridge: This is the preferred and most direct route from the south as it is motorway all the way to Kincardine Bridge via the M6 and M74. At Kincardine Bridge follow the signs for Perth via the new bridge. Stay on the A77 Perth road for about 4 miles until you come to a small roadside settlement called Forest Mill. Turn right via the filter in the middle of the road. Go out of the village and just keep following the road for another 3-4 miles until you come to a T junction. Turn right here and follow the road into Saline. The turning to the cemetery will be on your left - the rest is as above.
