Key House
Falkland, Fife

fife holiday cottage

Falkland Palace was the summer hunting lodge of the Stuart monarchs and Key House is in a unique location overlooking the Palace orchard. Now owned by the National Trust for Scotland, Falkland Palace is the jewel in the centre of this delightful, historic conservation village. Nearby Falkland Estate is an outstanding historic designed landscape which operates as a place of thoughtful stewardship of land, nature and community. The Royal Burgh was Scotland's first conservation area and boasts good quality craft shops, antique shops, pubs, cafes and a nine-hole golf course. The award winning organic Pillars of Hercules farmshop and cafe is reached by an enjoyable walk through the estate. Other historic sites nearby include Kellie Castle, Culross Palace, St Andrews Cathedral and Loch Leven Castle.

The local area is a paradise for golfers with upwards of 100 golf courses within a 50 mile radius. Falkland has a 9 hole golf course and Ladybank and St Andrews (the Home of Golf) are 10 and 20 miles away respectively. There are many pleasant walks around the village of Falkland and the Fife Coastal Path is easily accessible. For hill walkers the Lomond Hills are right on the doorstep and for those who prefer to cycle there are 300 miles of sign posted cycle paths to suit all abilities.

For those wishing to explore further afield, Edinburgh, Glamis Castle, Blair Atholl and Pitlochry are all within a hour's drive.
