This amazing 18th century country house has superb views to the Lammermuir Hills and is surrounded by rolling farmland and 10 acres of mature gardens and grounds. Situated in the depths of the East Lothian countryside, yet it is only 25 minutes drive to central Edinburgh and all the attractions of the city.
The house has been beautifully renovated and finished to an exceptionally high standard - your every comfort has been thought of. East Lothian is an ideal place for a holiday with beautiful sandy beaches, superb walking and wildlife watching in the Lammermuirs (where you'll often see no-one in a day's walking). There are over 12 golf courses within easy reach of the house - these include Gullane and Muirfield (championship courses) and other excellent courses at North Berwick, Aberlady, Gifford and Craiglaw.
The beautiful garden is there for you to enjoy and the house is surrounded by 14 acres of private parkland. There is a hard tennis court for your enjoyment too - bring your rackets and balls!
Edinburgh is quickly reached but you can return to relax in the peaceful countryside in a historic country house with open fires. East Lothian has so many attractions, great local produce and excellent restaurants - but if you are just staying for a weekend then you might just want to walk or cycle from the house and not get into your car at all! Internally the house combines old and new in a stunning way - lots of historic features including rows of servants' bells, but modern hot water and central heating system and lots of ensuite bathrooms! The main accommodation is on the first and second floors of the house. The south facing sitting room and drawing room (both with open fires) are beautiful and extremely comfortable. The enormous kitchen is perfectly equipped with everything you'll need. It has a large kitchen table and stunning views over the garden - there is a 4 door Aga as well as an electric cooker provided in the second (attached) kitchen, which also hosts the dishwasher and 2 large fridge freezers.
The dining room seats 14 round a beautiful table and is stunning lit by candles in the evening - perfect for a special dinner. There is a second sitting room (also with an open fire) on the other side of the house which has another TV/DVD too - ideal if you are a large multi-generational group! Steps lead down into the garden from this here, which of course is accessed from the ground floor too.
In the west wing there is a study and 2 bedrooms, both of which have ensuites. The other bedrooms are on the second floor with five bedrooms served by three bathrooms - all are spacious with gorgeous views over the gardens and parkland.
On the ground floor there is a boot room and a table tennis table room - also masses of space to store bikes, golf bags etc.
From Edinburgh take the A68 south past Dalkeith and then turn left onto the A6093 (signposted Haddington). Continue on this road for about 2 miles where you turn right onto the B6371 (signposted Humbie). The entrance to Keith Marischal is on the left after about 3 miles. Turn left past Gate Lodge and continue up the drive to a gravel sweep in front of the house.
