At the far end of an historic and pretty Scottish village, on the edge of the Lammermuir Hills and a mile from the border of East Lothian and Berwickshire is this beautifully restored one storey cottage. The sturdy pinkstone Georgian stable block has become a warm, cosy hideaway for up to four people. Located just 2 miles from the A1 this little gem is so easily accessible to all the local attractions yet hidden away in the quiet and beautiful countryside which surrounds it.
There are endless things to do, whether on a family holiday, romantic break or just to re-charge the batteries - Oldhamstocks Cottage has access to some of the most beautiful sandy beaches of East Lothian, Berwickshire and north Northumberland.
East Lothian boasts probably the best variety of golf courses in Scotland and within 30 minutes of Oldhamstocks there are some 19 courses including the world renowned Muirfield - home of The British Open Championship, North Berwick, Gullane, Dunbar to name but a few. They come with friendly clubhouses and affordable green fees. Edinburgh, one of the finest cities in Europe (35 minutes away by car or 20 minutes by train) is within easy reach with Edinburgh Castle and the various galleries and museums, not forgetting the beautiful Botanical Gardens and of course The Royal Yacht Britannia. In July and August the city plays host to the International and the Fringe Festivals as well as the Grand Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle.
There is also North Berwick, Tantallon Castle, The Scottish Seabird Centre and the Bass Rock all within 25 minutes. Accommodation:
Over the past couple of years this south facing light, airy and cosy holiday cottage has undergone a complete refurbishment programme to a very high standard, whilst retaining much of the charm and character of its heritage as an old stable block. With one step up into the cottage, the building is all on one level. It has a sunny sitting room with a coal fireplace, a TV, Freeview, DVD, video, CD player, a comfy sofa with lots of cushions and 2 arm chairs. The new kitchen has an electric oven, grill, hob, washing machine, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, toaster, pans and all necessary cooking/baking utensils. There is a dining table and chairs for 4 people.
There are two light bedrooms (a double and a twin) accommodating up to four people, both beautifully presented with fresh white cotton bedding from the White Company and duvets, as well as a chest of drawers and wardrobe in each. Each room has a pretty colour scheme with a country cottage feel. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, a basin, WC, electric shaving point and constant hot water. Bath towels are provided (you'll need to bring your own beach towels).
Outside is a delightful fully enclosed south facing walled garden with table and chairs and a door leading to the village and a small play park for children. There is off-road parking for 2 cars in an open garage. There is also a secure enclosed garage for storing bikes, diving equipment, fishing tackle, golf clubs, outdoor footwear, and for hanging up/drying out washing and outdoor clothes.
A home from home, Oldhamstocks Cottage is lovingly looked after and is very suited to families, couples, walkers or people who just love the countryside and want to get away from it all, yet are only 2 miles from one of the UK's major roads, allowing fast and easy access to a lot of local attractions. The owners live next door and are very happy to help and advise during your stay.

Detailed instructions will be provided on booking. The cottage is 40 minutes from Edinburgh and just 5 minutes off the A1, so easily reached from north and south.

Cost and availability:
Change over day is Friday, arrive after 4pm, depart before 10am.
Short breaks - Friday to Monday weekend breaks, Monday to Friday midweek breaks.
