Royal Deeside will prove the ideal location for your holiday – regardless of what your idea of a good holiday is! Honey Cottage offers delightful, newly refurbished accommodation and is perfectly situated to explore this stunning part of Scotland. For the adventure enthusiast, many of Scotland’s munroes are easily accessible, including the mighty Lochnagar which is nearly on the doorstep. Deeside Activity Park is 5 miles down the road and offers a host of outdoor activities including tank driving! The Deeside Gliding Club offers trial flights from their air strip nearby - the views of the Dee Valley from 1000s of feet up are glorious.
For those who enjoy the outdoors but would like to take it a bit easier, canoeing and fishing on the Dee can be organized for you. Horse riding through the stunning forests of Glentanar is also easily arranged. Ballater and Aboyne are home to great 18 hole golf courses and there is also a lovely 9 hole for the odd evening game just up the road at Tarland. There are walks of all levels starting literally on your doorstep, taking in stunning scenery and fascinating history – stone and iron age relics are in abundance.
If shopping and attractions are your thing - arts and crafts and unique little shops and galleries are found all over Dee and Donside. Having lived in the area for 30 years, the cottage owners will be able to let you know of all the hidden treasures that you mightn’t be able to find yourselves!
Balmoral Castle, part of the legendary Castle Trail is 20 minutes away and accessible to the public for 3 months over the summer. Many National Trust properties, including Crathes Castle, Castle Fraser, Haddo House and Pitmedden Gardens are also within easy reach. The Whisky Trail is also easily picked up from the cottage and makes for a great day out visiting distilleries (be sure not to be nominated driver that day!)
For those who like to get a bit further a field, Inverness, the Banff coastline, Perth and St Andrews are all within 2 hours drive and make for great day trips.

Accommodation:
Recently refurbished and refurnished, Honey Cottage is an immaculate, semi-detached cottage offering clean and cosy accommodation.
Ground floor comprises open plan kitchen and sitting room with wood burning stove. Leading out from the kitchen, the back door opens onto a stunning clematis-clad patio, with table and chairs to seat 4, a barbecue and chimniere.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms – one with a double and one with a ¾ sized bed – and a bathroom with over-bath power shower. Private parking for your car and any bikes is available at the side of the house
Directions:
Situated in the pretty village of Dinnet, between Aboyne and Ballater. Honey Cottage is found at the end of Harvey Lane which runs up the side of the Victoria Tearoom on the east side of the village.

Cost and availability of cottage
The cottage is rented out year round.
Rental periods are Saturday-Saturday, arrival after 3pm and
departure by 10am please. Short breaks available off season.
