Bulldog Cottage
Calgary, Isle of Mull

Like many holiday lets, Bulldog Cottage offers modern, well-equipped, light, comfortable and cosy accommodation - but what makes it quite exceptional is that it is situated just 50 yards from the glorious white sands and safe bathing waters of Calgary Bay, thought by many to be the finest beach in Scotland. Strike out in any direction for superb coastal and hill walking in this tranquil and beautiful corner of Mull - and keep your eyes peeled for sea otters, seals, golden eagles and sea eagles! Take a 10 minute walk via ‘Calgary Art in Nature’ to enjoy an evening meal at the Dovecote Restaurant, or visit the adjacent Carthouse Gallery for coffee and to browse local crafts.

Whale-watching trips are available from Croig (3 miles), whilst boat trips run daily from Ulva Ferry (10 miles) to Fingal’s Cave on the island of Staffa (truly one of the natural wonders of the world) and also to the hauntingly beautiful Treshnish Islands, where seals and sea birds abound – come in May and you’ll enjoy the amazing spectacle of puffins nesting in their thousands! For the more adventurous, Mull boasts its very own ‘Munro’ in Ben More (3169 feet high). For Balamory fans, or to visit the local whisky distillery or golf club, Tobermory is just 13 miles away. A day visit to the magical and historical Isle of Iona, where St Columba landed in AD 563 to bring Christianity to Scotland, is always tremendously rewarding. Best of all, perhaps, there is no TV or mobile phone reception at Bulldog Cottage, just plenty of books, jigsaws and board games - so, if you want to get away from it all for a few days, you need look (and go) no further!
