Rhumhor Holiday Lodge is in a wonderfully tranquil location on the shores of Loch Goil admidst breathtaking scenery. The house is set in beautiful grounds and there are stunning views of the loch and mountains from both inside and outside this spacious house. Loch Goil is a very special place, offering a real taste of the Highlands while being just over an hour from Glasgow.

Walkers are spoilt for choice with a variety of walks available through the Argyll Forest Park and the Cormonachan Woodlands. Here you can see red squirrels and deer, and as you walk along the loch you may even spot seals or sea otters. The area is also a haven for photographers and artists who want to capture the amazing scenery and wildlife of the area.

The Drimsynie Estate is a short distance by car from the Lodge and is a purpose built leisure village. It hosts a huge range of activities including an outdoor and indoor children's play area, ice skating, bowls, snooker, amusements, 9 hole loch side golf course, fishing, boat hire and marked walks. Here you will also find a small supermarket and a hotel which has a bar, lounge and restaurant. Rhumhor is in the pretty village of Lochgoilhead at the head of the loch, which has two pubs/restaurants and a small post office. If you fancy a break from self-catering you have a good choice of places to eat close-by.

Loch Goil is the ideal base to explore the Western Highlands and Argyll. You can visit Inveraray where you will find the fairytale castle, the historic Inveraray Jail and Argyll Wildlife Park. Oban (the gateway to the Isles), the pretty fishing harbours of Crinan and Tarbert, the famous Loch Lomond or the magnificent Glen Coe are all within easy distance for a day out.

Accommodation:
Rhumhor Holiday Lodge was built in the 1890s and is a beautiful lochside Victorian home.

There is an outer hallway with access to two of the public rooms. The classical drawing room has comfortable sofas, an ornate fireplace with a log burner and a bay window with stunning views of the garden and loch. On the opposite side of the hallway is the elegant dining room which is perfect for groups to dine together. This also has a log burner and wonderful views.

A paned glass door separates the inner hallway. Here is the downstairs shower room with a modern and easy access shower cubicle. There is a double bedroom with a feature fireplace. The galley kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances including a dishwasher and drinks cooler. A small hallway with hanging for coats leads through to the large family and entertainment room. This has an 8ft pool table, a 42 inch TV and DVD player, a Wii games console and Ipod dock, as well as a DVD library and games. There are sofas to seat eleven people and French doors leading to the garden.

Upstairs is a small half landing with views over the mountains, the idea place to relax and read a book. There is a double room and twin room with views over the loch (these can be set up as family rooms). A double room with a window seat and turret window looking over the mountains and a single room with its own mountain view turret window. The family bathroom has a bath with shower, a WC, basin and storage cupboard.

Outside the family room there is a private garden, decking and BBQ area. Moving to the front of the house there are gardens overlooking the loch and plenty of parking for cars.

Directions:
Rhumhor Holiday Lodge is just over an hour from the Erskine Bridge, Glasgow Airport the M8 and Glasgow.

From Glasgow, take the A82 following the side of Loch Lomond, to Tarbet. Then follow the A83, through Arrochar to the 'Rest and be Thankful'. Turn left toward Lochgoilhead and follow the road down to a give way sign. Turn left and follow the road for several miles until you come to a junction just before a bridge. Turn right here following signs for Carrick Castle. Follow the road for about 5 miles until you reach the village of Carrick Castle.

Rhumhor Holiday Lodge is situated approximately 1/2 a mile into the village. The drive entrance is on the right immediately after the flat bridge going over Carrick Burn. Parking is allocated at the right side of the house.

What's included:
Electricity, gas, hot water and central heating are all included in the rental price. There is a starter pack of logs for the wood burners.
