Cottages in Argyll

cottages sleeping 1 to 4 people in Perthshire

Personally maintained by the owners to ensure a high standard of comfort, this luxury holiday house lies in Glenashdale near Whiting Bay on the beautiful island of Arran. The beach and seafront at Whiting Bay are only 300 yards from the house. It is a truly immaculate self-catering house offering superb and spacious accommodation, with level access throughout the property, thereby providing excellent disabled accessibility. Whilst you might struggle to tear yourself away from the immediate surroundings, there is lots more to explore on this gorgeous Scottish island.

Over 200 species of bird have been recorded on Arran including hen harriers and buzzards and in the higher peaks you may be lucky enough to spot a golden eagle - Arran is a great place for a bird-watching holiday in Scotland as well as ideal for a Scottish family holiday. The Isle of Arran is 20 miles long and 56 miles round, and a well-known feature is Goat Fell, a popular tourist attraction if you are up for the challenge of conquering it and seeing Arran stretched out below you. Arran is also the most accessible of Scotland 's islands, and is only 2 hours from Glasgow.

The spectacular Glenashdale Falls and Giant's Grave are only one mile from the property. The house lies very near beautiful Whiting Bay, 4 miles from Kildonan beaches to the south with their basking seals, and 8 miles from Brodick with its National Trust castle. There is a golf course one mile away, climbing and hill walking all around, and cycling and riding nearby. The well-known Arran Adventure Company is 8 miles away which offers activities such as power boating, abseiling, orienteering and canyoning to mention a few! There are more glorious sandy beaches and many more tourist attractions on the Isle of Arran, notably Arran's "Taste Trail" which includes visits to producers of cheese, bread, whisky, seafood, and last but not least, beer at The Arran Brewery. The Isle of Arran is justifiably referred to as "Scotland in Miniature", boasting spectacular scenery, jagged mountain ridges, sandy beaches and palm trees - a perfect place to rent a cottage for a Scottish island holiday.
