Barr-Beithe Upper,
Loch Awe, Argyll |
|
This lovely self-catering cottage (awarded 4 stars by Visit Scotland) is on the shores of Loch Awe and has wonderful views over the loch and Argyll hills. It has a pretty and mature garden where you can sit out and enjoy the stunning scenery. This is a working Scottish hill farm, with sheep and Luing cattle.
There is so much to see and do in the local area as well as on the 2,000 acre farm. Walking and bird-watching are very popular with visitors and there are many easy and lovely walks from the holiday cottage, including round Loch Awe. In the surrounding hills there are more strenuous walks and monroes to climb nearby, including Ben Lui and Ben Cruachan. If you want to go pony trekking then there are stables at Ardfern and near Inveraray. Cycling is also popular, and there are some lovely routes; on the forest tracks of Inverliever Forest, along the Crinan Canal and the islands of Kererra and Luing. Fishing for pike
and trout on Loch Awe is a great day's sport and you can obtain a fishing permit at Balghour Farm.
