Cross the ferry to Ardnamurchan and you are in a different world – the days seem longer and the pace slower. Come and discover the peace and tranquillity, unspoilt scenery, good food, beaches and abundant wildlife that make up the Ardnamurchan and Morven peninsular.
There are plenty of walks locally, with Ben Nevis for climbing anytime and skiing in the winter, not far away. Locally there is the Ariundle nature reserve for butterflies, Sunart Oakwoods and Garbh Eilean wildlife hide where otters can be seen. Further a field Ardnamurchan Natural History Centre, Sanna’s sandy beaches and Ardnamurchan lighthouse – Britain's most westerly point – make enjoyable days out. Take a trip to Mull and/or Iona via the Lochaline or Kilchoan ferries or cruise Loch Shiel. From Arisaig visit the Small Isles where whales and dolphins may be spotted.
Most of the roads are single track, where sheep and deer roam freely, making them ideal for cyclists, along with the many forest tracks. Take the children to Castle Tioram with its sandy beach or for a steam train ride of Harry Potter fame from Fort William (the outdoor capital) or visit Balamory (Tobermory) on Mull. You don’t have to be a child to enjoy it all! Keep your eyes on the sky as golden and sea eagles, buzzards, hen harriers, to name a few, all live here too! Return to this cosy self-catering cottage at the end of the day and relax in the total peace and quiet of this Scottish holiday retreat.
